The dark side of the wolf spirit animal
The dark side of the wolf totem: Sensitivity about feelings of threat
A wolf totem animal can represent a perceived threat or feeling you are being threatened. The presence of this spirit animal could be a reminder of an event, situation or a person you feel threatened by.
The wolf could reflect something that may have a “predatory” feel to it and instill a feeling of vulnerability that is not reassuring. Encountering your spirit animal in such a way invites you to look at who or what in your life is having such an influence.
Perhaps your spirit animal is warning you about challenges with personal boundaries: You may feel you have exposed yourself too much with someone or in a certain situation and need to pull back or strengthen emotional or physical boundaries with that person or in the context of that experience. The wolf as a spirit animal could also remind you that you’re facing stiff competition at work or that the behavior of people around may feel like you have to deal with a “pack of wolves”.
The wolf as representation being guided or misguided by instincts
Since a common meaning for the wolf spirit animal emphasizes the role of instincts, having this animal as a guide or totem could point to your relationship with how you live your life, and more specifically how you trust or mistrust your instincts and intuitive guidance.
Check whether you feel threatened by your own instincts and feelings. The presence of your wolf power animal could reflect your inner emotional landscape and bring to your awareness your own feelings about a matter that is highly emotionally charged.
Dream interpretation of the wolf spirit animal
The dream meanings associated with the wolf point to powerful instincts or habits that could be experienced as aggressive or dominating by others. Wolves in dreams convey the energetic imprint of strong sexual energy or addictive behaviors of different kinds that would benefit from being kept in check.
If a woman dreams of a wolf in a nightmare or anxious dream, she may be getting in touch with anxiety relating to a male partner who may be pushing his sexual desires very strongly or pushing her boundaries. The intensity of the relationship can cause fear and be experienced as a threat that the wolf symbolizes in the dream.
If the dream has a positive tone or outcome, the wolf could be interpreted as a guiding symbol for trusting your instincts more or expressing them in a more balanced manner. If you have such a dream, ask yourself if you feel at ease and supported by your instincts, especially your sexuality or a partner’s sexual expression, or other types of “cravings” in your life.

I was woken this morning by a large wolf leaping out of the bushes at me and growling. It shocked me awake instantly. My alarm went off seconds later.
When I dream of wolves its always running through the forest being carefree and jubilant. The only time I ever felt threatened was once. It was a week before my Grandfather, in a sense my alpha, passed away. My “pack” was lost and afraid. I didn’t know what it meant till it was too late. I’ll always regret not following my instincts.
Once I dream of having frilled neck lizard as a spirit animal then I sold it but it respawn again so I thought I would get more money and it’ll come back but the second time I sell it I feel uneasy and after I sold it a lion spawn and it looks like it’s tainted then it went to fight with a black panther but I woke up then. I’m pretty sure that my spirit animal is a wolf though. Can someone help me with the explanation?
Last night I dreamed of an angry black wolf..I was with one of my siamese cats and was walking through the woods and it was curvy..all of a sudden, I see the wolf n i saw his teeth and seemed like he was furious with me. I have no idea why but when he got really close to us,, my cat wasn’t afraid n didn’t run,, i looked the wolf in the eyes n i growled back at him..was freaky..he then snarled at me n i got scared n slowly backed off n grabbed my cat n took off running..then i woke up..have no idea what all this means but i love wolves. Thoughts? Thanks
I think the wolf in your dream could of been a sign that maybe you didn’t follow your instincts before or a sign that a threat to you or someone else is either occuring or going to happen soon. But, then Im not an expert exactly.
I’ve done 3 journeys and a wolf with three eyes and changing fur color appears he gave me his name and wherever I go he comes to show me the way but he leaves once we are close so I can walk the rest on my own
Twice now I’ve dreamt that I’ve been walking in the woods, in the snow (I live in Florida) and a wolf – I believe it to be a female – has shown herself to me in the path ahead and wanted me to follow her. The same exact dream – twice. I’m never scared – always excited to see what she wants to show me. I always wake up when I begin following her – so I never see where she’s taking me. Once I was walking with the man that I love in the dream. The other time I was walking with my daughter. Any thoughts?
I know I’m just giving a simple thought on this so it doesn’t matter if you take it seriously or not but anyways, in your case it seems like when you wake up right after you begin to follow the wolf, it could be a sign to tell you to carefully follow your instincts. Wolves, themselves have a strong sense of following their own instincts so it makes sense that it correlates to your dream.
I was at the service station early morning today, well lit and busy. I turned out of the pump area and half circled to the driveway. On the high wall area suddenly appeared a gray wolf,( he because of his size) looked straight at me, almost knowing me. I stopped and admired him, excited quietness, a moment where I looked to see if anyone else noticed him…it felt like minutes but still only seconds. I just knew I should continue on so I pulled forward, he seemed to walk with me, along side of the truck. I turned out to the road almost circling him, yet he was no longer near me, Not along side or in front? With the roads almost surrounding him I expected him to at some point cross in front of me, he didn’t. Reflecting he didn’t hide or hover, he owned the moment. Yet I can’t shake the feelings, no fear just peace. I can’t understand why this is important to me, what it is saying to me? But here I am sharing this as if I have to. Sue
I’m very bad at explanations but I think he is saying your going the right way, if you try to go the wrong way, maybe it’ll stop at the road your supposed to go for work? That’s my thought!
I see a black wolf that others can not see. Only once i was walking a friends dog and it barked at it. It appears and disappears all of a sudden for almost a year now. Indoors or outdoors. Anyone had a similar experience?
I have experienced something similar to that. This past half of a year I’ve been seeing this sandy colored wolf in my dreams. In the dreams I was the only one who saw them. During the past 2 months, i’ve had this strange sense that something was watching me. One time this week, I saw the wolf from my dreams when i was with my friend. He didn’t see it but when i looked again the wolf was no longer there. What do you think it means?
I feel like the wolf is my spirit animal but I don’t really no for sure . Do you think the wolf is my spirit animal
Do you ever have the urge to howl when you feel lonely.Do you dream about Wolves or feel a strong connection to wolves or dogs as if they were your pack.are you able to command and change a dogs behavior by just a look or the use of your body posture.do you run fast.do you have an urge to dance under a full moon.do you growl when you feel uneasy.if so you may be like me wolf by nature.
I have that! I can make my dog, Sam, go from happy to sad AND out of the other 5 people in my family, he only listens to me! I growl at people I feel uneasy about too, and I always want to howl when I’m really sad or lonely (like at school). I never realized that!
Yesterday I took garbage into the garage. There was a gray black wolf sitting on the floor of the garage in front of a chair. It was looking past me growling. I was not afraid and went on with what I was doing. I put the garbage bag down and walked back into the house. As I shut the door, I realized what I had seen and went back out into the garage and it was gone. What possibly could this mean? Please explain.
relax she was only protecting you
