A power animal symbolic of freedom
Wolf power or spirit animals point to an appetite for freedom and living life powerfully, guided by instincts. When a wolf manifests its presence as a guide in your life, it could be a call to live your life more freely, to bring the intensity of passion in your everyday endeavors.
Wolves are wild animals that are not easily domesticated and when they appear as spirit guides, they could be an invitation to look at what supports your authentic self and the true expression of yourself. The wolf totem is a reminder to keep your spirit alive and trust your instincts to find the way that will best suit you.
An example of determination and resilience

The dark side of the wolf spirit animal
The dark side of the wolf totem: Sensitivity about feelings of threat
A wolf totem animal can represent a perceived threat or feeling you are being threatened. The presence of this spirit animal could be a reminder of an event, situation or a person you feel threatened by.
The wolf could reflect something that may have a “predatory” feel to it and instill a feeling of vulnerability that is not reassuring. Encountering your spirit animal in such a way invites you to look at who or what in your life is having such an influence.
Perhaps your spirit animal is warning you about challenges with personal boundaries: You may feel you have exposed yourself too much with someone or in a certain situation and need to pull back or strengthen emotional or physical boundaries with that person or in the context of that experience. The wolf as a spirit animal could also remind you that you’re facing stiff competition at work or that the behavior of people around may feel like you have to deal with a “pack of wolves”.
The wolf as representation being guided or misguided by instincts
Since a common meaning for the wolf spirit animal emphasizes the role of instincts, having this animal as a guide or totem could point to your relationship with how you live your life, and more specifically how you trust or mistrust your instincts and intuitive guidance.
Check whether you feel threatened by your own instincts and feelings. The presence of your wolf power animal could reflect your inner emotional landscape and bring to your awareness your own feelings about a matter that is highly emotionally charged.
Dream interpretation of the wolf spirit animal
The dream meanings associated with the wolf point to powerful instincts or habits that could be experienced as aggressive or dominating by others. Wolves in dreams convey the energetic imprint of strong sexual energy or addictive behaviors of different kinds that would benefit from being kept in check.
If a woman dreams of a wolf in a nightmare or anxious dream, she may be getting in touch with anxiety relating to a male partner who may be pushing his sexual desires very strongly or pushing her boundaries. The intensity of the relationship can cause fear and be experienced as a threat that the wolf symbolizes in the dream.
If the dream has a positive tone or outcome, the wolf could be interpreted as a guiding symbol for trusting your instincts more or expressing them in a more balanced manner. If you have such a dream, ask yourself if you feel at ease and supported by your instincts, especially your sexuality or a partner’s sexual expression, or other types of “cravings” in your life.

You can have multiple spirit animals. In fact, most people have four key totem animals that can change throughout your life. Each one of the four points into a specific location (North, South, East, or West). Each one of the four has specific characteristics to guide you in each direction of your life. It’s totally possible for you to have multiple spirit animals, but I wouldn’t rely on a quiz to find out. Use meditation and pay attention to the natural world around you. As you ponder various animals and any dreams you have, you will soon figure out which four animals are assisting to guide you in your life.
Take it three times if you get a differs one sleep or meditate to see if you can see her or him
My dream placed me in my Grandmother’s house. I was walking down the hallway to the living room. All the lights were out in the house. I noticed something moving to the right of me. It was a black wolf. We made eye contact and started circling one another. I was growling I guess to scare the wolf. We stopped circling each other and just starred at each other and then I woke up. I have no idea what this means.
Hi Daniel,
This sounds to me like you were fighting with your conscience, maybe you have an important decision to make and are worried that you may make the wrong one, take some time to meditate and visualize a wolf, you may be surprised to see what you feel.
kind regards Angie.
Hi
I was having a really bad night due to pains in my body… After I was starting to fall asleep…. And felt my left hand that was sticking out of my bed being licked… I thought it was my dog… But in the morning when I woke up my mum said my dog stayed the whole night in her room…. I think it must have been my spirit guide the wolf… What do u think? Meanings behind a lick like so?
I think it is, because the only animal I can think of that has a bug tongue like a dog is a wolf! So your wolf spirit guide came to you! That’s so awesome!
I had a dream last night of a wolf. I don’t have any life experience with Wolves or am I a fan of werewolf movies. But last night in my dream I was walking down a typical NYC street and there was this Huge white wolf with the biggest paws I’ve ever seen, resting on a black iron fence. At first I was scared(in my dream) then surprisingly calm, she looked at me and kept staring as a I walked by her.
Does anyone have an idea if there is any meaning to this. I’m really curious.
oi m8 ur goona fuck a wolf lol
jk
that’s nothing to joke about man
I think it might mean a sign telling you to follow your instincts carefully. As a wolf, they have strong instincts so it would make sense for that i guess. It could be that in a positive way or a sign to watch out for anything that your instincts says is bad. So again the wolf in your dream could be telling you exactly that. You just have to depend on yourself with what you do.
Just a question – had a dream a few nights ago. I wasn’t sure actually if it was a dream or real because it was so real. I was in my car and either just leaving or arriving home from getting myour child to school. I looked out her car window and saw a dog – its appearance kind of morphed between a wolf and a dog. It was just looking at me / us. I remember asking my child if she knew where the dog came from and if it was friendly or tame. She said she didn’t know, and I didn’t either. I don’t remember anything else from the dream. I actually had to ask my kid if this happened or was a dream, as it was so real.
Thoughts?

Same thing I told to someone else on here.
Thanks Jasmine. I’ve looked at that angle, looked a time the possibility that it was there and showing him/herself to let me know I wasn’t alone. This dream came after 2 strong dreams with my dad (now deceased 21 years), and a dream where I looked down and saw a black widow spider (though could have been a wolf spider I guess) briefly hop on the back of my right hand, then hop off. I tend to think, with that many ‘spirits’ coming at me so quickly that there is a message somewhere.
I have always felt like i had a connection to the wolf and believe that it is a very complex and unique spirit to be. I once dreamed of being a brown wolf running down hills and street corners. I sometimes feel like a wolf because when i am alone and can experience life in peace, i am the most comfortable and free.
I FEEL THAT SAME WAY. I have loved wolves since I was ….ummm…. I don’t even remember! that’s how long it has been since I started likeing wolves!
I had a dream of me being a tiger swimming
I have recently lost my father ladt year had to borrow a bog lawn from the bank and move out from my olf place due too mr and my brother not getying along any more I feel like a lost soul. I feel like a wolf because I jave no one to turn too only my spirit and free will guides me to carry on with life.
We recently had to say goodbye to our bulldog Rolo, it has completely shattered my husband and I. Iv taken this loss extremely hard, finding it very hard to get back into daily life. It will be a week tomorrow and I don’t want tomorrow to come… It was a sudden loss, we did not know he was sick. We don’t have kids and he was our life..
I feel iv had this dream 2 times in the past week, but woke shortly after I saw it this time. I dreamed of a tall skinny white wolf coming up to our front porch, its a calm night, and the moon is out. I remember stepping out with a gun and wanting to scare him off, but I wasn’t afraid of him, and he didn’t seem to be there to cause harm. He comes up almost like he standing guard or checking in. He then just vanishes.
before i ever knew this was my spirit animal i once had a dream… i was being chased by a white wolf where wolfs are now gone. the minute i stopped i turtned to what i saw was the wolf. bitting into my leg as i tripped. and at that moment i woke up. i was so lost. becuase today i have no dreams but these.
