The dark side of the wolf spirit animal
The dark side of the wolf totem: Sensitivity about feelings of threat
A wolf totem animal can represent a perceived threat or feeling you are being threatened. The presence of this spirit animal could be a reminder of an event, situation or a person you feel threatened by.
The wolf could reflect something that may have a “predatory” feel to it and instill a feeling of vulnerability that is not reassuring. Encountering your spirit animal in such a way invites you to look at who or what in your life is having such an influence.
Perhaps your spirit animal is warning you about challenges with personal boundaries: You may feel you have exposed yourself too much with someone or in a certain situation and need to pull back or strengthen emotional or physical boundaries with that person or in the context of that experience. The wolf as a spirit animal could also remind you that you’re facing stiff competition at work or that the behavior of people around may feel like you have to deal with a “pack of wolves”.
The wolf as representation being guided or misguided by instincts
Since a common meaning for the wolf spirit animal emphasizes the role of instincts, having this animal as a guide or totem could point to your relationship with how you live your life, and more specifically how you trust or mistrust your instincts and intuitive guidance.
Check whether you feel threatened by your own instincts and feelings. The presence of your wolf power animal could reflect your inner emotional landscape and bring to your awareness your own feelings about a matter that is highly emotionally charged.
Dream interpretation of the wolf spirit animal
The dream meanings associated with the wolf point to powerful instincts or habits that could be experienced as aggressive or dominating by others. Wolves in dreams convey the energetic imprint of strong sexual energy or addictive behaviors of different kinds that would benefit from being kept in check.
If a woman dreams of a wolf in a nightmare or anxious dream, she may be getting in touch with anxiety relating to a male partner who may be pushing his sexual desires very strongly or pushing her boundaries. The intensity of the relationship can cause fear and be experienced as a threat that the wolf symbolizes in the dream.
If the dream has a positive tone or outcome, the wolf could be interpreted as a guiding symbol for trusting your instincts more or expressing them in a more balanced manner. If you have such a dream, ask yourself if you feel at ease and supported by your instincts, especially your sexuality or a partner’s sexual expression, or other types of “cravings” in your life.

I dont know really where to start. Had a vivid dream about a black wolf, a reddish brown and white wolf, and a gray and white wolf. The black one showed up first at the entrance to a path through a forest. I was in the a vehicle with two other people. After the black wolf approached the other two showed up out of know where. I was scared for the wolves and the people cause I didnt want anyone to get hurt. Then the black wolf disappears and then reappears on my side of the vehicle. Then the wolf turns into a woman with long black curly hair. She asked me why I was so scared. I told her that I didnt want to see the people or the wolves hurt. She then asked me why would I care if the wolves got hurt. I told her it was because I was one of them. She looked at me with surprise in her eyes. As we drove off the other two wolves had gone and she was still standing there watching me. then I wake up
During the last Supermoon this year I had a dream. The moon turned into the wolf mother. And asked me what it was that I needed. I told her what I thought. She breathed on me. I could see her breath. Then she breathed to the southeast. I haven’t seen or heard from her since. I wonder what it all means.
When I was 18 my father passed away from a massive heart attack suddenly and while in the hospital parking lot. I was sitting out with my girlfriend at the time and a wolf came up too me and just stared at me as if too tell me something. The two part of the story that are unique is that one this took place in the norther area of Chicago(where wolves have not roamed for a long time) and two my father spent years with Native American tribes in New Mexico. I read the article and what the means and it really fits me to a tee. It makes wonder how I should proceed to better understand where I should go with my life.
For the past week several times I have seen a very large Wolf walking around my farm or along the highway when i’m driving. This is not an animal that is physically alive because he/she dissolves like a wisp of smoke if I look at it for very long. I don’t feel threatened by it, it’s just around.
any ideas on this?
The year was 2009 around the time I was in to church real heavy and I was also participating in some illegal activity with drugs to get money. My brother and myself lived on 12th and vine in a four family home across the street from the church we attended. One night while barely waking up; I saw a huge White wolf in my bedroom doorway. I was friegthen because I felt paralized. Like I was between sleep and awake and no sounds were coming out. I pleaded and tried to call out (in the name of Jesus) repeatedly but the Wolf did not leave. It just stared at me. It did not appear to be a threat but a symbol of protection. I wondered for years, what it meant but I couldn’t find the answer. I told people about it but I don’t know whether they believed me or not. Seeing as this was not my first paranormal experience.
After googling this I have come to realize that it wasn’t there to scare me but to protect me. And I am honoured to have had that experience. I feel special and blessed.
First off, I’m half Navajo/Apache with tribal documents to prove it. I’m not sure if I should categorize this recent dream with my background or if it had some other meaning. I won’t give you all the details but I have never had a dream like this and I will tell you what I know to be the most important part that I know I was to remember. A neighbor asked me to come over to their house in what seemed like a very surreal world; there was an animal that apparently held an almost ancient, mythical type of evil impression which this person was deadly afraid of. I came over not expecting much but found an almost wolf/bear like cub that had the most intense eyes and an almost black/brown type coat with extremely intense bluish green type glow to its coat. I sensed it was dangerous but it did not fear me and I did not fear it. I picked it up and almost instantly it became an adult wolf like animal with the most beautiful bluish-green coat I’ve ever seen. I felt that this animal was ancient and mythological with extreme importance. The most puzzling part for me was that we instantly knew that we had finally found what we were looking for upon meeting. It was a bond that was meant to be, we were complete. I still feel this strength right now as I type. I’ve never seen an animal like this in our world. I want to say it was a wolf but it wasn’t and all the people were deadly afraid of its powers in my dream but it walked at my side. I haven’t remembered a dream in almost 6 months now but I remember this very well. My significant other was saying that I was moving and jerking a lot in my sleep just before she woke me up. I do this a lot but she said it was different, not the way I normally do it. Just recently I have been looking into Hopi prophecies and their way of life finding out that they have the MOST complete oral history of ANY civilization on this planet and that they in fact were told to migrate across the world and actually served as the base people for many of the great civilizations we’ve seen in South America. I’m just recently embracing my native side and I’m astonished by what I’m seeing. The Hopi history dates back more that 40,000 years and discusses much of “Ant People” (aliens) interacting with them at very crucial parts in Earth’s history, guiding the Hopi people towards the right way to live life. Hopi history has talks of “flying discs” battling in the air which nearly destroyed the Earth and its people. The biggest thing that I’ve taken from their stories is that they have ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO LIE TO ANYONE ABOUT THIS FOR PERSONAL GAIN. We’re talking history stretching back 10s of thousands of years. They have no reason to create these stories which tells me there is some truth to it. The world is changing and I feel as though I’m changing with it but in a positive way.
Last night I dreamt I was walking home through a rural area of a city. The road was wide with lots of grass and lawns on either side. They were small nice homes but there were no sidewalks and I was walking on the left side of the road on the grass. I was startled by wolf’s howl and people screaming. I looked up to find a gigantic white wolf frantically running back and forth across the road and seemed to be looking for something. He was only a block away. Immediately I felt dread, “This is how I am going to die! I am going to die!” I even experienced flashes of how it would feel and look to be slaughtered by the huge wolf. Although terrified, I froze and instead of running, I just stared.
Within a few seconds the white wolf it stopped, sniffed the air, and then looked directly towards me; I knew he was coming for me. With regained motivation and hope I still hadn’t been seen I ran to a dumpster near the road, hoping the smell might throw him off. It took me a moment to realize I had hidden on the only part of the part of the dumpster lit up by the street lights. Before I could carefully withdraw back into the shadows the White Wolf was already there staring at me from the street. He knew I was there and he had come for me. He Stood in front of me, directly under the street light, with only a small hill of grass separating us. I still clung to the hope that maybe he still couldn’t see me, despite the situation. I could feel my hand against the metal of the dumpster, which I used to help me balance. I could feel the grass and dirt under my feet and hoped that I could stay still enough that he wouldn’t hear or notice me, which was nonsense as he was staring right at me.
The Wolf was even bigger up close, standing at least 7 feet high. The small grassy hill had made me eye level with the White Wolf, which somehow put my mind at ease, despite his deep black eyes staring into mine. His fur was so bright, flawless, long, and thick; almost a short brilliant mane around his neck and face. He was beautiful, majestic, and intimidating. I couldn’t look away and instead stared back into his black eyes.
Although I was still afraid I no longer feared for my life. I now feared I wouldn’t be able to understand what he wanted and what I was supposed to do. I was frozen. I was unable to speak and was unable to communicate with the White Wolf, despite the overwhelming urge to understand and be understood. After an unknown amount of time the wolf started to back away and then disappeared. It was unclear of the wolf disappeared or transformed into a man, but either way he was then gone. Even the man then walked away. Life in city continued as normal as if nothing happened and no one seemed to remember the giant White Wolf.
My dream then continued: I was so focused on my meeting with the white wolf that I forgot to finish dressing myself for work and what I was supposed to accomplish. I then looked down to find chest exposed and attempted to cover myself. I felt vulnerable and exposed. I kept trying to cover myself as I went about my duties and no one seemed to notice I wasn’t completely dressed. The thoughts of the White Wolf continued to be on my mind but I didn’t feel I could share it with anyone; that I wasn’t supposed to.
Through events I can’t quite remember, someone found me and explained that the white wolf came for me because of my gift of magic and power, but had to leave because I hadn’t found or released it yet. I was told he wouldn’t return once I freed myself, and allowed myself to have my gift or power. I felt confused and attempted to ask questions about what power they spoke of but received no answers. I then woke up.
Could the White Wolf be my spirit guide? I would love to hear thoughts and impressions. This is the first time I have been visited in my dreams by a White Wolf or any wolf. What could the “power” be referring to? This dream was different and was so clear and vivid. It felt so real. I have never really considered having an animal spirit guide before, but this dream has changed my mind.
Hey everyone. When I was 12 years old I had a dream where I was this grey wolf and my family was walking down the this path in this open field, but there was this man following them. I don’t know how I knew but I knew he ment to hurt them. I chase him down and tackle him but he looks like a shadow so I can’t see his face. I turned to see my family but then I woke up. After that dream I just started feeling very protective of my family and started to have a hard time trusting others. But I felt more confident in my instincts and realized how important it is to have someone who will watch your back to. Since that dream I have started dedicating things I love to wolves. I’m not worshipping them or anything, but I have a lot more respect for my spirit animal.
Thanks,I am a werewolf,it means a lot to my pack.
I am a White wolf with blue eyes. I am Alfa 2
In my dream my boyfriend was in the room with me after sex he put on this big mask that looked like a bug white bunny but as he turned around to face me it was a white wolf. I was definitely scared an frightened. He showed me his teeth an kind of grrw. All I remembered was me kept saying please don’t bit me whatever you do don’t bit me. He got closer and closer but he didn’t bit me. I woke up and went back to sleep we we’re in my house in my room then I woke up.
Once when I was little, about six or seven, I went exploring alone in the woods near my grandparent’s house. After a while, I noticed something was following me. I turned to see what it was to discover it was a silvery white wolf. I was confused, because wolves are not native to where I was,but I was unafraid of it. It followed me untill I started to head back to the house. When I came out of the woods, I looked back to see if it would follow me. It didn’t. Instead, turned around and walked back into the woods. It walked for about ten feet, then vanished.
For years I’ve dreamed about wolves. Sometimes I just see them, other times I am a wolf. A few monthes ago, my dreams involved me turning into a wolf and running to my boyfriends house, where I would stand gaurd all night. In my most recent dream as a wolf, I’m in a forest and I catch a whiff of this scent. The scent seemed familiar and strange at the same time. Curious, I follow the scent trail to this large clearing ringed by torches. In the center of this clearing is a male wolf, I could tell by his scent. The male wolf was facing towards my left and from lack of reaction, was unaware of my presence. To my right, looking at the wolf, is a pair of yellow eyes. My instincts told me that whoever owned those eyes meant harm for that wolf. I rush into the clearing (I had been hiding on the fringes of it) just as a big, black thing charged at the wolf. I leap, and shove the other wolf out of the way, accidentally scratching him and causing him to bleed. The black thing plows into me and everything goes black and I wake up in my own body. Weeks later, I went swimming with my boyfriend and he showed me that he had these mysterious scars on his back. They look like an animal had clawed him, I asked him when he got them, and he said that they showed up a couple years ago and that they just appeared there. I told him about my dream, and his response was “You’ve seen the clearing too?”. He told me that he’s had a similar dream, but he was already in the clearing. He heard something, but when he turned around to look, something jumped on him and everything went black. He didn’t say so, but I suspect that when he woke up, he had those scars.
