The dark side of the wolf spirit animal
The dark side of the wolf totem: Sensitivity about feelings of threat
A wolf totem animal can represent a perceived threat or feeling you are being threatened. The presence of this spirit animal could be a reminder of an event, situation or a person you feel threatened by.
The wolf could reflect something that may have a “predatory” feel to it and instill a feeling of vulnerability that is not reassuring. Encountering your spirit animal in such a way invites you to look at who or what in your life is having such an influence.
Perhaps your spirit animal is warning you about challenges with personal boundaries: You may feel you have exposed yourself too much with someone or in a certain situation and need to pull back or strengthen emotional or physical boundaries with that person or in the context of that experience. The wolf as a spirit animal could also remind you that you’re facing stiff competition at work or that the behavior of people around may feel like you have to deal with a “pack of wolves”.
The wolf as representation being guided or misguided by instincts
Since a common meaning for the wolf spirit animal emphasizes the role of instincts, having this animal as a guide or totem could point to your relationship with how you live your life, and more specifically how you trust or mistrust your instincts and intuitive guidance.
Check whether you feel threatened by your own instincts and feelings. The presence of your wolf power animal could reflect your inner emotional landscape and bring to your awareness your own feelings about a matter that is highly emotionally charged.
Dream interpretation of the wolf spirit animal
The dream meanings associated with the wolf point to powerful instincts or habits that could be experienced as aggressive or dominating by others. Wolves in dreams convey the energetic imprint of strong sexual energy or addictive behaviors of different kinds that would benefit from being kept in check.
If a woman dreams of a wolf in a nightmare or anxious dream, she may be getting in touch with anxiety relating to a male partner who may be pushing his sexual desires very strongly or pushing her boundaries. The intensity of the relationship can cause fear and be experienced as a threat that the wolf symbolizes in the dream.
If the dream has a positive tone or outcome, the wolf could be interpreted as a guiding symbol for trusting your instincts more or expressing them in a more balanced manner. If you have such a dream, ask yourself if you feel at ease and supported by your instincts, especially your sexuality or a partner’s sexual expression, or other types of “cravings” in your life.

I have alot of dreams where in the dream I am an angel but depending on the situation I become a wolf. It’s always to protect someone I love but, I still don’t understand what me turning into a wolf symbolizes or means. Can anyone help me figure this out?
The wolf as a spirit animal represents not only freedom and trust in instincts, but also it may represent a guardian or a family person, willing to protect those it loves. Perhaps the dream symbolizes something that may happen in the future, when you sacrifice something to protect someone you love. I had a dream when a wolf followed me home from a hike with my family, and it became my closest friend. Obviously our dreams meant something different, but in the end they both mean love, companionship and protection.
I keep having dreams where I turn into this huge black wolf. It’s still completely me, but I feel strong.
Hi… So I’m just gonna jump into this. So I’ve had this reoccurring dream since I was 5 years old. I’m in a dark forest with LOTS of trees, and I’m just walking on this barely visible path. And I seem to be nervous or anxious about something, and then I see this HUGE black male wolf that has piercing green eyes. At first when the dreams started he would just stand there looking at me, and let me walk past. Then when I hit 12 it began to get more intense. When I would go to walk by he would make this very low and rumbling growl, like I had made him angry but he would still let me pass. Then I hit 15 and he began to walk after me growling and I would start running and loose him. Now I am 17, and as soon as I walk past him he heads at me with full speed teeth bared growling uncontrollably. As I’m running through the Forrest while he’s chasing me other wolves began to appear, all different colors and sizes but never matching up to how enormous he is. Then I trip over a log and he pins me down while the others surround me growling viciously. He’s inches the my face. This dream is so real I can feel his breath and smell it. He then rears his head up and goes to lunge at my throat but I always wake up screaming
then. What is the deal? I mean I do come from an Indian family but I don’t know much about my heritage. Can anyone tell me what this all means??? I definitely know its not my spirit animal. Please help!!
Have you tried another path in the forest? Perhaps the wolf is trying to stop you from taking the wrong path.
I agree with you on this dream. It seems as though in life she us headed in the wrong direction and the wolf is trying to make her change her path if life.
My husband came home from a motorcycle trip this afternoon, and I was feeling a bit sleepy and asked him to come to lay with me for a bit. In the space between sleep and awake, I saw a large white wolf at our bedroom door, staring at me. Its head was just about in, but it seemed poised there at the door. I noticed its full lane around its head and black eyes. I did not sense malevolence at all. It was more like a visit and creating an awareness of its presence. I then opened my eyes to look at the door but of course it wasn’t there once I looked. I was pleasantly pleased, but upon waking from our nap, had to look up what its meanings are. Also, I find it interesting that so many are having this white wolf visit right now. Does anyone else note this? Is there a community awareness being created for a reason? I remain open to this interpretation personally as well as communally. ~Toni
My first impression about the wolf in my dream there was a white black and grey wolf in my dream they backed me my buddy and his gf to a cliff they jumped not to long from that i did.
I had this really weird dream this month. I was at the end of a brick tunnel and I saw a forest. There was a wooden table and chair set up with a bottle of wine and an orange, and next to it, a grey wolf. This was not your ordinary grey wolf, either. He just looked at me right in the eyes, and he had an upside-down reddish brown triangle on his face from his forehead to just below the eyes. The triangle continued down his back, kind of like a badger’s stripe, all the way to his tail. Other than that, it was basically a normal grey wolf with a white underbelly, and I think amber eyes. I know this is my spirit animal, but will I ever meet him?
Last night I dreamt of a good friend in trouble I went to his home inside he wasn’t there i awaited in his room all his house possesions where stolen.
Looking through his glass sliding doors at the entrance was a calm ocean of water I couldn’t open the door because the house wauld flood.
I went outback to find him in his yard it turned into a paddock we live in Australia so it was dry and barren after a big search I found him laying next to some dry tall grass.
He was having a seizure and looked pale as a ghost sick though he isn’t eepileptic.
I was panicking for him told him my love for him as a friend.
I looked 5meters behind him on slight raised land a WHITE GREY WOLF to his right and a big WHITE SNOW LEOPARD to his left though he looked cross with a WHITE TIGER these animals had a blizzard around them of loving energy I felt his was ok at this point as they where there and woke up.
Can anyone tell me what the animals mean?
To brief you on this man he is highly respected in our community by many amazing characters of people from all walks to life he has a drawing ability,he owns many nice things expensive things and networks with the finest of under and above ground people.
He has adopted he is also a spiritual man and owns 5 large dogs that he spoils.
2 year’s ago after establishing a well deserved business he began dabbling in drugs and gambling now he is loosing all his things, the people he has picked up along this journey are now stealing from his home robbing his buissness Voltures they are, his loyalist of friends are still there for him holding his head up
My biological brother and I were adopted from Russia when he was 5 and I was 3. A year after we moved to America, we were still sharing a bedro, I woke up in the middle of the night randomly. The closet door was open, I remember it being shut when I went to bed, and a very subtle glow was coming from it. I remember thinking some sort or light was on but instead this giant white wolf came out. I remember that night very clearly as does my brother, we are both grown now, but that night it came to me first and I pet it and felt how thick and soft the fur was around the neck, yet how it was rougher along it’s back. It licked my hand then walked over to my brother where he pet it and licked his hand, then went back into the closet. When I woke up the door was shut. This was not a dream. It’s as vivid as the night it happened. What I am wondering though is why the wolf has never come back, what did it mean? Why did the wolf come to us?
It could be that a loved one has come to pass and it was their spirit animal coming back to say goodbye
I had this incredible dream when my husband and I were vacationing in Maine. We were in a 1920’s camp I the Belgrade lakes region of Maine. The first night we fell asleep no problem I however had this incredibly real dream. We were on the second floor asleep. I heard this crazy howling but I was not afraid more aprehesive about the howls. I saw whst I thought were coyotes running about back and forth. Around the cottage and thru the pines. I felt like I could see them thru the walls. They were frantically howling and pacing back and forth outside the cottage I felt soo sleepy and wanted to get up but for some reason could not their was fear but not intense fear that would make me take cover and hide or flee. However I could not move and was on my stomach with my back exposed. It got to a point where howls were intense and I felt like I could see through the walls and see pines and them darting back and forth crossing each other and surrounding the cabin. Then one crashed through the window and came to my side of the bed i was not afraid and I reached my right arm and extended it out to touch his back and I could feel his rough coat and tuft of raised rough cost that was thicker then the rest of his cost and at that point it was so reAl like my protector was standing by my side it was so real the feel of grabbing a handful of his coat the lose skin letting me grab hold of his coat and I felt extremely calm and at ease with his presence next to me and I patted him down the back like he was my dog. And I only have cats at home. And I woke to the feel of me stroking his coat and the coarse feel of his coat so real to me in am I was stunned and it has kinda haunted me as to why my wolf came to me and was incredibly real from the feeling of his coat to the pacing back and forth and surrounding me as a pack which I could see. Please help me understand my wolf which for a long time I thought was fox or coyote. But as of tonight I realize it is a wolf. U
HI everyone :-)
I have a question that i am wondering if someone could please shed some light on.
The other night, the night of the supermoon @ 4:03am something prompted me to wake up and look out the window.
When i looked out the window there was a wolf baying at the moon (there are no wolves in my area) as i looked to my right there was a shooting star… Both wolf and star were within arms reach!
The wolf calmly stood up and looked to me he then turned around and disapeared, just as quickly as the shooting star!
This wasnt a dream and left me a bit confused as i feel like there was more of a meaning to this.. But what? It took me several hours to try and go back to sleep as i am a very spiritual person and tried to get some info from my guides or past loved ones.. I am a medium yet one that didnt get any answers :-)
If anyone may be able to help me understand this gift i feel i was given please help!
Thank you with much love n light,
Kate:-)
The first visit I got from my wolf spirit felt like a nightmare I was sitting in the forest (in my dream) and all of a sudden a pitch black wolf leaps down from a rock with his mouth wet from (when I looked) looked like a fresh kill
I have just started meditating, after about 2years. My first experience, was interesting. I began listening to a guided meditation, i relaxed went with it, i began to see snow on the ground and it was thick. There were a few trees, as i looked around i saw these aqua/blue eyes staring back at me. It was a white male, wolf. He was beautiful, i did not feel afraid nor threatened. As i looked around, the trees had owls, perched on the branches. It felt so real. I am beginning to get back to meditating and getting back to whats important to me. I have been on a different path, and i have not made time for myself. I am so happy, it has inspired me to carry on getting in touch with my higher self.
I am on my journey, and loving it :)
