The dark side of the wolf spirit animal
The dark side of the wolf totem: Sensitivity about feelings of threat
A wolf totem animal can represent a perceived threat or feeling you are being threatened. The presence of this spirit animal could be a reminder of an event, situation or a person you feel threatened by.
The wolf could reflect something that may have a “predatory” feel to it and instill a feeling of vulnerability that is not reassuring. Encountering your spirit animal in such a way invites you to look at who or what in your life is having such an influence.
Perhaps your spirit animal is warning you about challenges with personal boundaries: You may feel you have exposed yourself too much with someone or in a certain situation and need to pull back or strengthen emotional or physical boundaries with that person or in the context of that experience. The wolf as a spirit animal could also remind you that you’re facing stiff competition at work or that the behavior of people around may feel like you have to deal with a “pack of wolves”.
The wolf as representation being guided or misguided by instincts
Since a common meaning for the wolf spirit animal emphasizes the role of instincts, having this animal as a guide or totem could point to your relationship with how you live your life, and more specifically how you trust or mistrust your instincts and intuitive guidance.
Check whether you feel threatened by your own instincts and feelings. The presence of your wolf power animal could reflect your inner emotional landscape and bring to your awareness your own feelings about a matter that is highly emotionally charged.
Dream interpretation of the wolf spirit animal
The dream meanings associated with the wolf point to powerful instincts or habits that could be experienced as aggressive or dominating by others. Wolves in dreams convey the energetic imprint of strong sexual energy or addictive behaviors of different kinds that would benefit from being kept in check.
If a woman dreams of a wolf in a nightmare or anxious dream, she may be getting in touch with anxiety relating to a male partner who may be pushing his sexual desires very strongly or pushing her boundaries. The intensity of the relationship can cause fear and be experienced as a threat that the wolf symbolizes in the dream.
If the dream has a positive tone or outcome, the wolf could be interpreted as a guiding symbol for trusting your instincts more or expressing them in a more balanced manner. If you have such a dream, ask yourself if you feel at ease and supported by your instincts, especially your sexuality or a partner’s sexual expression, or other types of “cravings” in your life.

Ever since I was a little kid I have always had dreams about wolves or a wolf. He is a dark charcoal grey color with very light eyes, almost white eyes. Majority of my dreams have always been nightmares where I am running and the wolf is chasing me. The very first nightmare that I can remember was about a pack a wolves in my moms room and when I walked in the room they were all on her bed eating and tearing her dead body apart. One of the worst nightmares I have had and still remember to this day. I recently found this page and it has definitely given me a bit more insight into my spirit animal. As of now most of my encounters with my spirit animal are in dreams where he is chasing me. I understand it to be that he is warning me of something and telling me where to go. Even in my dating life he has warned me and of course I ignore him/ my instincts and end up hurt. Still not exactly sure of the meaning behind the nightmare about my mother. If I remember correctly that nightmare was the first time I encountered my wolf spirit animal. The pack had red eyes and I can remember seeing the one pair of white eyes in the pack. Hmmm…anyways, its all very interesting. Thank you for sharing!

The dream of 10/24/2015
IN my dream, I was threatened by some force, something that I couldn’t have any control over. I was at Hidden Valley ski resort, when I got off the chairlift and got on all fours. This is when I felt very angry, and very threatened. I decided enough was enough. That’s when I screamed, and a howl was embodied with my scream. It was my battle cry.
I then remember running after this threat to me, still on all fours. I remember feeling invincible and nothing could hurt me. I ran across patrons in the ski resort slopes, and even though they noticed me,I felt silly, but only for a moment, and continued my hunt.
I ran as fast as I have ever ran. The wind was in my face and it felt so liberating. I was sure I was going to catch my threat and kill it.
Then I woke up, and “of wolf and man” was playing in my mind.
My sprite animal is the wolf and I found this very interesting and helpful
The word wolf has actually followed me from the moment I was born. Which is a little strange. Ever since then a black wolf with dark brown eyes has appeared whenever I truly need help. I went into the woods when I was younger to try to connect with it and I saw something. Not sure if it was my wolf but it was a wolf. I also have a strong connection with wolves and I also have the exact personality of one. I believe that black wolf is my spirit animal.
Has anyone ever actually seen their spirit Wolf come to them, not while dreaming but a face to face encounter? Sure I’ve dreamt of mine but also made contact while awake. Is there anyone else out there with a similar story?
I recently had a physical world encounter in the summer
It is now that I realize a deeper meaning and connection to everything described in this article. I met this guide right in our backyard and she held my attention for a brief time only to watch her disappear into thin air.
I am a wolf but I am 11 years old
I recently had the help of a guided power animal meeting, which was successful. I met my power animal at the top of very large mountain, there was a grassy clearing surrounded by trees and in the center was a natural spring, fed from beneath the mountain, and was a sort of reflecting pool. As I stood there, a large, red and silver she-wolf materialized over the pool, but the strange part was every few minutes she would morph into a red fox. After a couple seconds as the fox, she’d turn back into the wolf. As the meeting went on, we ended up standing face to face and after she slowly disappeared, I looked down into the pool to see that I had turned into my wolf, I didn’t morph into a fox too, just the wolf. I tried to ask questions beforehand, but her voice was muffled, like there was a loud wind in my ears, and the only thing I heard clearly was her name. When I returned to the foot of the mountain, I transformed back into myself, but I was holding a wolf’s canine tooth in my hand. What does this mean? Someone please help.
