When lion spirit animals warn about challenges
This spirit animal could point to one of your weak spots or a difficult situation you’re experiencing. The lion animal spirit guide is perhaps showing you the way to deal with the issue and keep going with the courage it also embodies.
Lions could also represent an authority that may feel overpowering or a conflicting relationship with power and authority. When you see a lion as a spirit animal, it could symbolize external power, authority, forces that dominate or rule parts of your life. For instance, if you dream about a scar or threatening lion, it may remind you that you need to deal with an overbearing boss, partner or teacher in your waking life.
Lion spirit animal, symbol for anger & personal struggle
Seeing your lion spirit animal could be an invitation to control your temper or your moderate aggressive impulses. For instance, observe if you could really listen to what people have to say before striking back at them. Or explore how to express your needs or anger more openly and constructively to reduce your level of frustration.
If you are dreaming of being chased by a lion, it may represent a situation that brings about personal struggle. Common dream scenarios with threatening lions are as follows: A lion suddenly appears in your dream. You feel threatened by this wild animal known for devouring its prey with no mercy. The lion is now preying on you. You’re trying to escape, but it is still behind you, chasing you like you’re about to get devoured.
Dream interpretation: Being chased by a lion
This lion dream scenario is classic. Dreaming of being chased by a lion is one of the most common themes featuring this creature in the dream world. The lion chasing you generally connects to the struggle the dreamer is experiencing regarding feelings of anger or aggression in waking life.
The dream about your lion spirit animal could point to anger you may feel towards someone or aggression that is directed at you. Being chased by a lion in a dream could be a warning from your animal totem that you’re struggling with these feelings and how to express them. The lion totem could mean that you’re having difficulties dealing with a situation where someone is mean or aggressive with you.
Scary dreams about lions
Terrorized by your lion dream?
This kind of dream is expressing in strong images what you actually feel within. The meaning of your lion dream is symbolic and likely represents the intense psychological or emotional tensions you are experiencing in your waking life. Dreaming about a lion in this way is an invitation to examine what’s happening in your life that is causing tension and despair.
Most likely, you’re facing a challenging situation or behavior that is hard to comprehend at a conscious level and the lion appears as a spirit animal to help. It may be too hard to deal with or seem unacceptable to you and therefore is rejected out of your awareness, a bit like a protection, a defense mechanism. The presence of your lion spirit animal could be a warning to pay attention to a situation or person who’s creating worries or concerns for you.
On a positive note, a terrifying lion is likely indicating that you’re in the process of becoming more aware of the issues at hand. It works as a reminder that whatever is bothering you in your waking life needs to come out in the open to be dealt with. Bring forth the courage that lion totems symbolize.
Lion spirit animals in dreams: When the lion bites you
A lion that bites you in your dream could be a warning from your spirit animal and signify that you’re feeling overwhelmed in your waking life. The source of worries could be about feelings you or someone else may have or a situation that is particularly challenging. The image of the lion bite is a strong call to look at what’s going on in your life that could feel threatening or dangerous before it really “bites” you.
Another interpretation of such lion dream is to ask yourself what is dominating your life these days and see if you can bring more balance.
Scary images of lion spirit animals and the “shadow self”
When you are scared by the presence of your lion spirit animal, whether it’s in dreams or in waking life, this could be an invitation to look at your “shadow self”. The shadow self is a part of yourself that you prefer to keep “in the shadow” or the dark. In other words, a part of yourself you would hide or reject because it’s not likeable, you or other people think it’s unacceptable, not worthy, etc.
Your spirit animal indicates the need to look at these aspects of yourself and resolve the tensions inner conflicts may create. For instance, by just starting to acknowledge parts of your “shadow self”, looking at them, perhaps understanding what they are about, what they are connected with, you can start bringing a better understanding of yourself.

I take pride in the fact that I am a fairly good dream interpreter but every now & then, I have such a strange one that I can’t figure it out at all. I’ve been trying to look this dream up for a good hour an a half at least with no luck so I’m hoping I’ll find some help here! Thanks in advance.
I had a dream last night that I was in bed with my boyfriend and he was asleep but for some reason, I was eating watermelon (in reality I don’t like watermelon at all!). Then out of seemingly nowhere a large, almost glowing, male lion with a big beautiful mane climbed onto my bed. I wasn’t scared of him, but I lyed down and put the piece of watermelon under my pillow and pretended to be asleep. He kept coming closer and closer until he was directly beside me. He took his large left paw and began swatting at my pillow. I assumed he was trying to get my watermelon and I began to get annoyed. After several minutes of him attempting to steal my food I sat up in a huff and tossed it into the floor & in turn he leaped off my bed to retrieve the watermelon. When I looked down at the ground to make sure he’d got it, he was a dog instead of a lion; and was gnawing at a bone rather than the piece of watermelon is just thrown. This didn’t puzzle me in my dream at all, though. It seemed as normal as the rest of it did. Then I put my head back on my pillow and went back to sleep.
I am pregnant, have one daughter already, and am in a very committed relationship with the father of both of my babies if that helps at all.
You may be having a discussion or conflict of opinion with your partner. But you realize that by giving in in this particular topic will be good for the relationship, and you realize you don’t care about giving in that much (because you don’t care about watermelon) :)
If it were my dream I would probably ask myself whether there is something in my life I am “eating” that I don’t like. The watermelon could symbolize something I am indulging in that I don’t particularly like in my life. The watermelon could symbolise your work, something that feeds you but you might not enjoy. The lion symbolizes power and strength therefore it could mean a position of power in your own work, someone above you trying to take away what feeds you. The fact that you could so easily smack the lion and turn it into a dog just chewing at his bone could mean you are more than apt to deal with the threat and turn it into something less harmful. Therefore if this was my dream I would see the conclusion of the dream as something quite positive, an affirmation I can deal with a threatening situation and diminish its power. I hope this helps
I had a dream last night, it was night time and the lion came out of nowhere and started chasing me. I escaped it then another one came, same thing happened again. Now a bigger lion came and was chasing me for a long time, i was saying to myself this lion not tired yet. Then i woke up before it caught me in the tree. That was scary, but the interpretation from this site put it in prospective for me.
The other night, I had a dream in which I was playing with 2 full grown lions, one a male and one a female. I was afraid at first, but then the female lion jumped up and put her front paws on my shoulders, hind paws still on the ground, and licked me, and I was no longer scared.
Can anyone help me understand what this might have meant?
I had a dream once where I was in the desert and it was night, I was laying on the ground, I didn’t know why so when I tried to stand up I walked on paws, I then realized I had a tail… After I realized I was a lion, I then got up started running… I felt free Like nothing could stop me, I felt powerful… I’ve always had a dream about a lion in some sort of way… At first I never understood it but now I do…
The only time I remember a lion in my dreams, it was about some sort of plague or disease. If you caught it, the whites of your eyes (sclera) would develop black splotches that would spread to turn your whole sclera black and soon after, you would die. I remember I was outside of a glass room, looked at my reflection in the glass and saw my eyes turning black. I quickly rushed into the room and closed the door. When I turned around, there was a big male lion there and my only thought was, “Oh no! Now I’ve just given it to him!” and I saw his eyes start to splotch up. Then there were people trying to open the door and I was trying to hold it shut, shouting at them to go away that the lion and I were infected.
That’s all I remember about that dream, though.
I had a dream that me n my family were running across the street but I was way behind them. All of a sudden a huge lion appears in front of me and starts running after my family. My instinct as a mother I start running after the lion to catch it’s attentionn also warn my family that a lion is chasing them. I catch the lions attention and as soon as it looked at me it started chasing me. I ran so fast that it couldn’t catch me. At the end of the dream the lion took a big jump at me but I woke up after that.
