Hawk symbolism in ancient traditions
In numerous traditions, the hawk has a strong relationship with the world of the gods. Some of this symbolism has persisted in modern mythology and beliefs. In Ancient Egypt, the belief was that a hawk-headed spirit called “ba” would fly off a mummy to come back among the living as a hawk or swallow. The hawk symbolized a part of the soul that would be freed up after death and come back to the world of the living in the shape of a bird. It was also the animal of choice for the god Horus, god of the sky, who was represented with a hieroglyph depicting a falcon or hawk.
The popular belief in more modern times that birds like hawks or owls are announcer of death may be rooted in this myth. For the Greeks, the hawk and the eagle were associated with the god Jupiter, king of the gods. The bird is strongly connected with the realm of the gods.

I think god knows that your animal would be a hawk because its what you resemble. Think about your life and how many times you’ve been seeing hawks.
I have had an on going relationship and mutual respect for a hawk for many years here on our land. She seems to always be close, circles above, trains her young and this year I witnesses mating. Many times she has flown through the yard or flown above me as I enter the dirt road. Twice now she has come within feet of me flying straight at me then turning upward swiftly. I have chickens and have had a few close calls but so far the hens know when to scatter. I love coexisting with this magnificent bird and am honored to have looked eye to eye several times with this beauty. May she always bless and guide me.
I got a question…. who is “she”? Also i was never afraid of big things such as eagles or hawks but one question i always have is why do i only in my family have dreams of animals like sometimes of my parakeets but i was crying in the end because they got squashed by my family and only i cared. But it was all a dream, whew….D: . I have a very big connection with my animals sometimes i dream about wolves, raptors (da bird) and every animal.
When i was younger i used to have dreams of birds but hawks were more common then the eagles. Once it was in a strange area were hawks were on trees and then crocodile in the water. I feel i’m special in my family because i can understand my birds when i click or make sounds. I even talk to chickens and peacock and to almost every bird that is close to me.
I am preparing to send in a major spiritual calling of a book proposal to the editor TODAY since the deadline for the contest is on the 22nd of this month. I came out of the downstairs work place to have lunch with my parents in the kitchen. Something caught my eye as it landed on the deck railing facing us in the house–A HAWK! In all of its golden tones. It was regal and beautiful!!! WHAT AN AMAZING SIGN!!!!
I was out side in my drive way talking to my dad.today is very hot the sun is beating down on us well I was talking to him a shadow casted over usI blocked the sun out of my eyes and there it was a hawk perched on a top of a telephone pole.I just starteddy welding class Monday and I didn’t know if this was a calling for me please help
The other day I was relaxing in my pool. Floating on my back.I thought to my self…Id love to see a hawk fly over. I kid you not…one did then another and another.4 hawks in all. I was shocked. I’ve never seen 2 hawks together ever and there were 4! Soaring over me ! Breifly they flew away one by one. Please help me…At the time I was consciously blocking things out to try to ” get in tune with nature” Boy did I ever! Could you help me to understand the meaning of 4 soaring hawks please.
You have to ask yourself what the number 4 means to you. In a dream I had there were 4 hawks that I was feeding in my back yard. A piece of meat went in the water and 1 went in to retrieve it. It was under too long and required me to pull it out and help revive it. It was fine after I dried it off, but it was acting just like my dog when she gets out of the bath. To me the 4 represent the ones I take care of (care for) my husband, 2 children, and my dog Miracle. Mira, as we call her, is now 12 years old and has a tumor. I am still working on the exact meaning of this dream, but feel like our dog will maybe need some extra care and attention to keep her acting like herself. The hawk is about seeing a higher meaning so just re-examine the situation to decipher. 4 were soaring over but flew off individually. Maybe 4 family members that are going seperate directions.
Driving home today I saw a Hawk on the side of the road. I stopped because I thought it was injured it stayed for awhile and then flew and perched on the wire across the street. I took several pictures. I can’t help but feel as though this incident is a message to me but I don’t know what.
Yesterday I went paddleboarding and there was a single hawk feather floating on the ocean. When I went home, a single hawk feather landed in front of me as I was walking from my car to the house…what does it mean?
The eerie unsettling feeling was illegitimate and a conditioned response from the fear based culture we are live in.
Earlier today a bird perched on a branch right outside my window. It had its back to me. I started snapping pictures with my phone. After a while I decided to take a video. While I was taking the video the bird turned to face my way. So I took a lot more pictures of it. I posted on Facebook asking my friends if they knew what Kind of a bird it was. So we figured out it was a hawk. A friend sent me this article that talks about getting higher perspective and being able to lead and influence. This message couldn’t have come at a better time. I went upstairs to tell my daughter about the The hawk but when we went to the window it was gone. It was like it was meant only for me.
Yesterday when I pulled into my drive there was a red tail hawk standing on the ground it stayed there ignoring me for a few seconds then it slowly rose into the air and in it talons was a small gray bird. I got a very eerie unsettling feeling….I’ve always enjoyed bird watching and I’ve saw several hawks around our property at various times and never had that feeling before. I felt it was some kinda omen. What could the omen be?
It means that what was bothering you has been fixed by the spiritual realm!
I’ve been struggling lately with anxiety and depression, I haven’t had much sleep the past 2 nights and I’ve been struggling. I went downstairs to make myself some dinner, and I looked out my kitchen window and saw a hawk just sitting on the fence, it stood there for about 10 minutes. I’ve never had an experience like this before, and I’m not too sure what it means for me.. but I’d like to believe it’s a sign from god letting him know that he’s looking out for me, I needed that in a time like this.
I was sitting in my living room on July 30, 2015. I looked out the window and a red tailed hawk was sitting on my fence watching me. The hawk sat on the fence for almost an hour just watching. I was able to walk to the window and take pictures. He would move his head like he was trying to communicate with me. He spread his wings out periodically, but didn’t leave. I was only about 20 feet away. It was amazing. I’m not sure what to take from this, but it did have a profound affect on me. I can’t stop thinking about him. I wish he would come back.
