Hawk symbolism in ancient traditions
In numerous traditions, the hawk has a strong relationship with the world of the gods. Some of this symbolism has persisted in modern mythology and beliefs. In Ancient Egypt, the belief was that a hawk-headed spirit called “ba” would fly off a mummy to come back among the living as a hawk or swallow. The hawk symbolized a part of the soul that would be freed up after death and come back to the world of the living in the shape of a bird. It was also the animal of choice for the god Horus, god of the sky, who was represented with a hieroglyph depicting a falcon or hawk.
The popular belief in more modern times that birds like hawks or owls are announcer of death may be rooted in this myth. For the Greeks, the hawk and the eagle were associated with the god Jupiter, king of the gods. The bird is strongly connected with the realm of the gods.

i have a connection with the redtail hawk and the barred owl i would so love to be able to understand the messages they are telling me , they have even screamed and screeched at me to get my attention
same here
Me too! I just got home and immediately started searching bc this is now the 2nd hawk that has screamed at me and stopped to get my attention…have a few mins to connect while we stare at eachother and then back into the sky where it drifts away on the wind. Absolutely love them! Such big beautiful and powerful birds. I believe there is definitely more to it than just a sighting.
Same here, owls and red-tailed hawks.
My son was leaving our house walking to his car and a hawk flew rt by him touching his arm with his wing. He thought nothing of it by I was amazed I know it means something, something powerful I just don’t know what
I feel the connection. I was outside a few minutes ago and heard one cry . I looked up and two were soaring in the sky above me. I have been seeing them a lot lately. The message makes a lot of sense.
This afternoon while driving on the highway, a hawk flew along side my car. I wanted to know the meaning…
Hello, today I saw a hawk perched on a wire in a food garden I walk by for volunteering. It then flew and perched next to its mate, another hawk and they both looked at me. I went about my business volunteering and when I stepped outside I noticed one of the hawks perched on a small branch very close to me. IT was very observant and I took a picture of it and went about my business. When I left volunteering the hawk was perched on the wire where I first saw it and it flew away. Does this mean anything?
I forgot to mention, I have seen one of the hawks before, but never both of them and while I was volunteering I heard their cry. They have never been so up close to me before. They usually kept their distance far.
Today, I heard the sound of a hawk on my way to class. And sure enough at the top of a tall oak tree there was red-shouldered hawk. The same type of hawk I saw yesterday. This time I decided to pay attention to it and I watched it for about 5 minutes and I noticed it was calling to something nearby. It flew to another branch on the tree and perched next to its mate and they were side by side on the same branch at the top of the tree. Any opinions?
This past week I have been trying to decide whether or not i should break up with my boyfriend and I asked for guidance.
It sounds like you’re being guided to trust your intuition, not necessarily the intellect. 2 hawks side by side when you were asking for guidance about whether to stay together or leave your partner. Very significant. Get clear on why you are wanting to separate from your partner. Can you have a conversation and talk about whatever issues/fears you have? Truth and honesty (with compassion and non-blaming) are the only ways you can fully honour yourself and your partner, whether you decide to separate or stay together. Maybe you need only to ‘call’ it out (your issues) and talk with your mate. This might create a shift to help you feel more clearly whether you need to leave, or whether the talking draws you closer towards each other. Either way, you’ll be entering into a deeper level of respect for yourself and your partner, and perhaps even sense how much easier life is when you are honest (with compassion and non-blaming ;) Wishing you well..
hi

Hello, I’ve seen two HUGE HAWKS on top of a church cross. I call them the TWINS.
I really appreciate this, I have noticed for a couple years now that I have a connection to hawk’s. If I ever travel far I rely on seeing at least one hawk and it never fails I will see one or more. There are times I will travel with my grandmother or boyfriend and they always seem to remind me that they are following us on our travels. Its not coincidence, if I have a new beginning a hawk will fly down to me. I have moved twice withing the year, both times I have noticed a hawk will soar down and leave.I live in the city and you rarely see them (if you do, its on the highway). I take much pride to say this is my spirit animal! Thank You!
This is the same with me , whenever I travel I usually notice at least one if not more on a long ride. They are often facing me or in the direction I am travelling and are perched way up high so that they are obvious to me. Other people never seem to notice them until I point them out. Other than that I also see them on occasion kind of randomly and unexpectedly.
I have the same experience! I was once traveling and saw the same hawk every few miles or so. I couldn’t tell what kind it was, but I knew it was the same one because it had white tipped wings.
What does it mean when you get to watch Hawk and Raven playing ?
Very surprising to find that this is my main spirit animal. Then again, maybe not. But to see what kind of person I am inside is really amazing. Hawks are so breathtaking and powerful. I’m so excited to use this animal for a special project! :)
I have this beautiful bird visiting my garden and yard often.. They are majestic…As the writing states focused….. this is how this bird survives…..I feel his energy when he is in sight..
I watch for spirit messages always and have good resources. ive just moved into a new residence room mating with my aunt (who is like my sister/we’re both in our 50’s and have health issues that keep us home alot. living on a lake at the edge of town with lots of new animals to get to know. Today (for the first time and also my first day here) a wounded red tail hawk is here. she knows nothing of spirit messages of which im more in tune. still im curious about the wounded part. in my personal life i have a mentally ill adult daughter (severe personality disorder and alcoholism extreme) until july and for the past year ive raised her 9 yr old daughter who is my best friend and me hers. i love teaching her the ways of magic and spirit and she’s the best tarot reader you will find lol. in july her mom decided she could handle her again and in her dellusional thinking she felt that i was wanting to ‘steal’ her daughter from her.. trust me to say that is not the case. however she has custody and she does try however my gran ddaugher is begging to come back to live with me and now me and my aunt who she also loves my daughter is not about to hear of it regardless of daughter’s pleas. at this time it is all up in the air with no knowing about how it will turn out since my daughter and new b/f are itnending to move five hours away ind ecember and take her with her. she’s distressed … you get the picture.. ive given up in trying to control, stay as close to grand daughter as possible (i just got visits back after 30 days of no contact due to my daughter feeling threatened by me wanting her to get help and more..) the wounded part is the part im confused about or unsure about how to apply it. wounded wing. it can still fly but not far only tree to tree. wild life rescue has been contacted but that aside im wondering about what others ‘take’ on this as for spirit message might be. im open to different interpretations. but am listening within for my own i have an ‘idea’ but its a bit vague .. ie…
1. bird is wounded (family is wounded/ grand daughter is wounded/ i am wounded/daughter is wounded.. so to speak OR situation is “wounded” but can still ‘fly’) how do i couple this with the other meaning attached to the red tail hawk coming into your life as a messenger.. does it mean healing is coming or does it mean something else? thanks in advance
Carla
Hello,
I’m not sure how you’ll respond to this. You should also know I don’t respond often… Being open spiritually can be good, but the spiritual realm contains both good and evil, and it can be difficult to discern between the two. If a mischievous spirit lets you know it is evil, won’t you resist it? Then the trick is to appear good. The hawk belongs to The Creator, and all the animals we learn from and relate to are ways that The Creator communicates to us. I believe the wound lies in the perception of the spirit in reference to the hawk all together. The animal sent to guide you cannot fly properly, its guidance is inhibited. By what, a wound? Spiritually speaking, yes. If I have offended you in any way with this, that is not my goal. But I believe if you (experiment even) in asking The Maker for guidance, and refraining from lower divinations and trustings, you may find a new sign from our friend the hawk. I know many trust in these things, but like the spiritual realm, you cannot trust in two opposing things at once and expect healthy results. You cannot have one wing that works, and one that doesn’t, and truly fly. Open can be good, but a mixture can be bad. Much discernment to you Carla, I sincerely pray this brings you revelation and healing.

I have seen hawks almost everyday my whole life. They mostly appear in the sky flying above me but sometimes they are perched on a telephone pole or tree. I have the ability of clear vision! I also have a very intuitive mind! It mostly comes in dreams but I do get them while being awake! I never really put two and two together with the hawk and I but I’m glad I read this today! Thank you
