In many cultures, the spider is given credit for its ability to weave intricate webs that are a miracle of organic engineering. If you have the spider as an animal spirit guide, you may have an affinity with acts of creation and the ability to create delicate, intricate things or ideas that are also strong.
As the weaver of the web, the spider symbolizes the spirit of creation. In several traditions, she’s the totemic symbol of the Mother, strong feminine energy. In Ancient Egypt, the spider was used as a symbol to represent the goddess of the Divine Mother, Neith. In some American Indian tribes, it is considered as the symbol for the creator of the world and by extension is associated with the female creative energy.

Symbolism of the spider: Life spirit and weaver of destiny
Just like the spider weaves her beautifully engineered web, this spirit animal fosters the integration of all parts and aspects of your life into a whole. When the spider shows up in your life, this spirit animal could guide you to integrate some piece of your personal “puzzle” and gain a more coherent perspective on your life.
The spider is a spirit animal whose purpose is to inspire you to gain perspective on an issue or project you contemplate taking on. Spider spirit animals and your shadow self
If the spider shows up in your life, this spirit animal may remind you of negative aspects of your personality or your life that need to come to the light more fully. For many, spiders inspire fear or at least some form of aversion. As such, they tend to be associated with what psychologists would call “the shadow self”. In brief, your “shadow” or “shadow self” are aspects of your personality or your life that you or other people deem unworthy or not likable and are therefore rejected or repressed.
The spider as a spirit animal does not typically take on these negative attributes. Nevertheless, its presence in your life might bring up negative feelings or unease. Whenever you feel your relationship with your power animal is characterized by tension, discomfort or fear, you can ask yourself where these feelings also appear in your life. Look for any association with your personal feelings, even if it indirectly leads you to other areas of your life, such as work, family, or a relationship for instance.
Here’s another question to ask to interpret the meaning of the spider spirit animal and the guidance it offers: What kind of relationship or connection did you or did you want to establish with this animal? Was the spider threatening or harmful? Did you kill or harm it? The answer will indicate the kind of dynamic that is shaping up between you and what the spider represents.
Dreams: How to interpret spiders and spider spirit guides in dreams
The symbolism of the spider in dreams is generally associated with the archetype of the feminine. If the spider appears in your dreams as a spirit animal guide or as your totem, pay attention to the messages it’s offering to you: They are likely related to an important direction you’re taking in your life.
When you dream of spiders, chances are that it refers feminine energy in your life. This dream symbol could represents a woman you know or your own connection with qualities usually considered as feminine, such as receptivity, patience, creativity.
An important element to consider when you interpret the meaning of the encounter with the spider in your dream is the reaction and feelings you experienced at that time: Were you afraid? Or rather intrigued or fascinated? Was the overall atmosphere of the dream scary and stressful or enchanting, adventurous?
If you want to kill it, you might be repressing some feelings or trying to remove tension from your life. If it looks harmful or it is threatening to you, you may feel that some aspects of your personality or your life are not aligned with your highest interest or that you or your people around you are rejecting them. The spider in a negative dream could symbolize your fears or an adverse influence in your life.

As I began my journey, I surrounded myself in my crystal protective shell and asked for my guide to take me to the lower spirit level to meet my guides. I typically have Polar Bear take me down. But to my surprise, a beautiful arachnid greeted me instead. She had a beautiful web covered in morning dew, she created a line, and we ascended together into a rocky dirt opening towards the realm below. I’m always so excited when a new animal arrives, I had Polar Bear for five years, and it was time for a new lesson and teacher to arrive.
I dreamed I was backing down the stairs after climbing them and this colour black based spider was at the top of the stairs. I was gasping and scared because I am afraid of spiders I couldn’t move. I then began to rise against the ceiling and gasping really long breathes and was being pulled towards the top of the stairs where the spider sat. I was so scared but I could not control it… a woman with grey skin and black hair sat against the wall with really intense eye’s. Her leg was up blockin her torso and as I got close to her at the top of the stairs I woke up. Unsure of what it all meant and how scared I was and unsure of what such a vivid dream meant.
I dreamed I was a spider and that I attacked a pack of spiders perhaps a group of negative women who constantly put me through domestic and political terror for their own benefit and amusement as a fiance they did not want wedded to their son. We had a child between us and my fiance and their son and grandson began to change and sway under their influence despite the continuous lies they all spun fine as silk and course as wool. In the end I attacked back after being attacked three times. The number 888 was significant in the dream as I was aware of the fact that the spider has 8 lungs, 8 legs and 8 eyes. I did not know about the lungs nor the huge talons on the feet. When I attacked we all screamed for very different reasons. The dream showed I must face my dream and while they made me suffer and my son also they were to suffer collectively more in a karmic manifestation that would allow my dreams and curb their abuses. I then withdrew into the Asian symbol or portal of fortunes double happiness giving me back all they had robbed me off as I cut open their under belly of deception and crime. This was a mafia family in France, Babylonian Jewish Talmud. It is significant of their belief in child sacrifice. I was nine months pregnant and they made it obvious they intended I should lose my child. He was born but under extreme circumstances which I have written about in my book “Not Without My Son”. I deal with a reverse racism and a political and domestic or social aversion to the truth between Muslim, Christian and Jew. This is my justice and the cutting of the underbelly.
Felt what I thought was my cat walking on my back while I laid in bed. But noticed he was sitting at the corner of my bed staring at where I thought I felt he was. I immediately thought of an invisible “hand” size spider. Then the feeling disapated.
Later, I felt it crawl up my chest while I laid on the couch.
Another time I felt I startled it as I walked up the stairs. I kept hearing tiny little movements as I “followed” it up to the attic. Then felt it was watching me until I went back downstairs.
Am I crazy?
Do I worry for my kids?
What do I do
I dreamed I was face to face with a huge spider. It was not like a real one but almost like a caricature or modern day cartoon. We just looked at each other no words exchanged or anything just looking.Mind you I’m afraid of spiders but face to face with that thing Not only was I unafraid I felt completely calm and also woke up feeling calm. It was weird because my first thought was why am I not freaking out. I don’t know if I was looking in a mirror at a version of my subconscious, meeting my spirit animal, or just had a random dream. Any suggestions?
Once when I was a child I woke up from sleep suddenly because I felt there was a spider nearby. I turned on my bedside lamp and sure enough there was a little spider at the foot of my bed. As I grew older I would occassionally have night terrors in which I dreamed there was a spider near me while I was asleep and I would wake up at the light switch in my room with the light turned on. Eventually I realized that the spider is my spirit animal and that I have a certain level of fear and revulsion towards my own shadowy traits…
However just as there is reason to be at least a little afraid of spiders, they are also worthy of a great deal of respect. They keep the world’s pests in check and maintain an important balance in nature.
The gifts of the spider totem definitely includes a web of knowing through delicate sensing, as well as patience, resourcefulness and tireless work ethic. The spider’s home and livelihood are flexible and adaptable, they are able to pack up and move to a new location with better prospects in an instant. Its life is a perpetual cycle of creating and destroying.
It’s a ruthless creature, it survives on blood using an intricate trap to ensnare unsuspecting victims, who are then tied firmly in place and potentially even poisoned before having the life slowly drained out of them. But if it wasn’t for this little creature there would probably be a plague of mosquitos and flies, so for keeping them in check the spider has my gratitude
Same i would see spiders on my bed outside everywhere in the corner of my wall i was scared to sleep cuz i got bit once on my foot cuz there was a spider in the restroom and it doesnt help living in a ranch where theres webs everywhere in the barn but they do catch bugs and they look really pretty ????????
I’m sorry but I still don’t understand. I suppose spider may be my Shadow Totem since I was crazy scared of spiders since childhood, yet I don’t really know why. I tried to stop being so scared and after some time when I started to grow up without working on it but on myself spiders appeared less scary than before yet still scary. Usually I forced people to kill spiders in my house but last time I’ve took a glass and paper and even if I was scared I was able to take it and throw behind the window (spider was standing on the part of glass where my hand was) and also I had a big spider in my apartment house above the stairs but I just called it William thinking if I’ll own it it won’t do anything bad to me so I wasn’t scared, just talked to him. He disappeared before winter (sadly).
I’m still a little bit scared but definitely less than years before. Can you help me a little understanding my relationship with spiders?
Hi*
I had a fantastic encounter with a white Spider ,that looked as it would wear a peruan Hut and dated Halló to me *
Spider is one of my Thotems *
Do you know what this sacred encounter could mean ?!
Gracias*
It may mean you are afraid of life for some reason, and try to kill your own dreams.
But keep trying, give it another chance…don’t run from your dreams. Keep trying.

Hm. What if the spiders actually could speak to me, and not even that they kind of “saved me” on my dream?
well that is funny i dreamed of spiders a lot but I’m not the biggest fan of them. In one dream the spider followed me the whole time and I was so afraid of it and I hurt it I used a knife to kill it and i had no control over my dream but suddenly the spider came back to live and followed me again I ran as fast as I could but then I realized that all of this is just a dream and then I woke up. This is strange isn’t it.
