Snake spirit animals, symbols for healing
The snake is close to earth energies and represents life force. Since it’s a reptile, the snake spirit animal is reminiscent of unconscious drives and primal instincts. When the snake spirit animal shows up, pay attention to how you use your energy, and where you draw it from.
If you see the snake as your spirit or power animal, be sensitive to your healing abilities towards yourself or others. Cultivate sources of energy and support, especially as they relate to the earth and nature.
In ancient traditions as well as modern times, snakes are symbols of healing powers and opportunities. In the Greek mythology, Aesclepius, the god of medicine, is featured with two snakes climbing up a rod, the symbol of what is known today as the Caduceus.

The snake and spiritual guidance
The snake can symbolize spiritual guidance. The presence of the snake in your life often means that you are in a period of transition and it points to ways promote your personal growth.
Snake could appear as a spirit animal when you are stepping into the unknown and need support to move forward. This animal is typically close to the ground and can remind you of staying grounded as you move through changes.
Dream interpretation of snakes
When a snake appears in your dreams, it most likely acts as an animal spirit guide inviting you to look at important facts or dynamics that are impacting your life. Snakes featured in dreams often leaves a strong impression on the dreamer: Such dreams tend to be frightening or disturbing because they call on strong unconscious energy.
Whether the snake spirit animal featured in your dream leaves a positive or negative impression, its presence should be considered as an invitation to look at positive changes and transformation.
The dark side of snakes in dreams
When the snake appears in your dream leaves you with a negative feeling, make sure you consider positive meanings as well. The snake spirit animal often appears in dreams as a warning about personal struggles and the need to pay attention to things or events that are escaping your field of awareness.
For instance, when you dream of being bitten or attacked by a snake, it could mean that you need to be careful about important matters you’ve been ignoring so far. If the spirit animal featured in your dream in the shape of a snake is chasing you, it may represent a challenging situation or relationship that you have been avoiding and is pushing you around.
The bottom line is that a dream featuring a snake invites you to check what in your life is “poisonous” and to look at important matters before they sneak up on you and create more damage or difficulty.
Meditation to connect with your snake spirit animal
Take a deep breath in and breathe out. Close your eyes and let yourself relax into a peaceful state. Listen to the sound of your own breath, and allow all other distractions to drift away.
Imagine yourself standing in the middle of a lush green forest. Feel your feet firmly planted on the ground, and sense the warmth of the sun beaming down from above. Look around and find a tall, strong tree with its roots deeply embedded in the soil. This is a sacred tree; it holds great wisdom for you today if you are willing to listen closely.
Feel your body connect with this ancient tree; feel how it radiates strength and stability as you draw closer to it. Now, look up at its branches as they twist and turn up towards the sky like an ever-changing tapestry. Amongst its leaves, you spot something glistening – it’s a snake! The sun reflects off its smooth scales, creating dazzling patterns that seem almost magical in nature.
Welcome this snake spirit animal, for it comes bearing important messages of transformation and awareness of what lies in the shadows. Listen to what the snake has to say, and find courage within its silent wisdom. As you observe this part of yourself, let its teachings guide you toward new beginnings and a greater understanding of your own inner power.
Looking more closely at the snake and its graceful movements, you feel deeply connected to its energy. Allow your awareness to travel through each scale one by one, noticing any area of potential growth or transformation.
The snake spirit animal stands for ancient wisdom and creative power; it symbolizes death and rebirth, going beyond boundaries and limitations. It encourages you to be more aware of your innermost thoughts and feelings and what lies beneath the conscious level of your being. The snake is also a representation of healing – both physical and emotional.
Use this moment to allow yourself to be guided by the power of this spirit animal. Feel how it can shift the energy in your body; notice any areas that feel heavy or stuck, allowing the serpent’s energy to move through you and help release any tension or resistance.
Feel the grounding energy it brings, connecting you with your inner wisdom and strength. Now is the time for self-reflection – take note of anything that comes up during this meditation, whether a thought or an emotion – and explore these feelings further if need be.
As you bring this meditation to a close, feel your feet firmly rooted to the ground, and imagine a wave of energy undulating through you from your feet all the way up to the top of your head. Notice any release or expansion that comes with this wave, and take some time to just be present in this moment.
Thanks to the snake spirit animal for its wise teachings, and acknowledge all you have learned. When you are ready, slowly open your eyes. You feel refreshed and connected to the wisdom of the snake within yourself as you take this knowledge with you into your day.
An inspiring message from your spirit animal
Hear my silent whisper,
As I slither and glide,
I am the spirit of transformation,
The serpent by your side.
From the depths of the earth,
I rise to guide your way,
Through the trials and tribulations,
Of each and every day.
With my venom,
I bring healing,
And the power to let go,
Of the old and the worn,
And to welcome the new.
With my scales,
I remind you,
To trust in your own strength,
And to face your fears head-on,
With courage at length.
So heed my call, dear life traveler,
And allow me to guide,
Through the journey of self-discovery,
And to help you rise inside.

To the author:
I applaud your depiction of the snake as a spiritual animal. I would say that you are spot on with it. From a 51 year old being that has encountered this divine animal on physical, psychic and mental levels I can relate to All that you have detailed in this summation. Without getting into specifics about myself, in which we as humans beings enjoy doing, I want you to feel that much more confident regarding your information about it’s presence. If you have received your information from your own perseverance I take my hat off to you. And if so, in time you and your audiences, will see more in depth of HOW these, and other, spirit animals are relevant to us – meaning how they have come to be what they are to us and why each one varies.
Great job. See you soon one day.
I always felt a connection with a wolf, but here I am a snake; interesting.
I had a dream I was walking in the Maldives (I live in Northern Canada) looking for a snake that had healing properties and could regrow it’s tail after losing it for medicinal purposes. I went to pick it up but it but me, causing me to die instead. How should I interpret that please?
P.S. I do not think using animals for medicine is ok, and don’t know why I dreamt that. Maybe I thought it was begrudgingly acceptable because it could regrow any lost parts?
Am a snake
Snakes snakes snakes snakes snakes
I am sure I dream but rarely remember them. I have visions. I seen on several occassions many snakes surrounding someone and they have a machete and he or she is cutting off their heads. I see it now as I am sharing this. My animal totem is a snake. What does this mean?
Thank You
Just because you interact with snakes, it doesn’t make you a bad person. I had to learn this. Hope this helps you.
i got snake, but does it have to be a certain one? If anyone could tell me that would great.
i got a snake
I got a snakeeee *hiss* >:3
I dreamt that there was something crawling inside my left arm and I realized it felt like a snake and its body form was like it. It was making sudden movements and felt uncomfortable. I was fearless tried killing it by pressing hard on my arm until I killed it and managed to remove the snake from my left arm. It was a small snake – the size of a finger but a long one. I don’t remember the color though. Anyone knows how to interpret that? I would very much appreciate it. Thanks.
Try worms
Once I dreamt with pulling worms from my arm/hands. I guess there are some similarities to this
You may need healing in certain aspects of your life. You may need to find resource for support and healing, you may need to cut a tie or heal a wound. Use your intuition.
If the snake is trying to reach you, don’t be afraid. Snakes have been demonized by certain religions, but snakes are ancient symbols of power and protection, and good fortune.
You have circulation issues
The snake / worm(s) in your arm are symbolic of the blood having difficulty giving you the nutrients and “life” your body requires
Do you drink enough water?
How about nutrient dense foods? Are you eating lots of those?
Your body and therefore your dreams are warning you of massive inflammation
If not checked, it will eventually lead to an autoimmune disease (or a multitude of them) — assuming this hasn’t already happened
What you need to do is listen to your body and give it what it needs / wants
#1. Start drinking lots of water throughout the day (a gallon in one sitting isn’t ideal as you’ll just pass it out just as quickly as you took it in)
#2. Eliminate sugar and processed foods for 21 days (look at the nutrition labels on your food and if it’s got more than 5-10 grams of carbohydrates per serving, put it down)
First two to three days will have you feeling all sorts of ways (peyote sessions start similarly), keep moving forward as it’s just the bad stuff leaving your body — salt helps offset this so while you don’t want to go crazy adding too much salt to your food, you definitely don’t want to be removing it either
You may even experience some weird dreams… this is normal
After 7 days your body will start to function normally and as intended
Keep going you’re doing well
After 21 days your issues will be gone
To keep healthy, you have two options:
• keep eating like this (easier and ideal); or
• eat within 6-hour window only
If you want to eat whatever you want, within reason of course, you’ll have to give your body plenty of time to process the toxins which is why you’re basically fasting for 18 hours a day
This is not ideal or generally recommended however it’s better than eating whatever you want and only giving your body 6-8 hours (while you sleep, essentially) to deal with it
Wishing you the best and please do share your results and how you feel throughout the process here
All the best,
– WF
I took this quiz a few years ago, and I got the snake, a year or so later, snake, now, still snake, except for two odd times that I got wolf once and turtle once, and then I got snake, it just shows that you don’t pick it, like it says, the spirit animal picks you. Also, have a nice day whoever you are, scrolling to read these comments! :)
You have a nice day too, Jacob :-)
I remember I came scross this quiz some years ago and I can recall I also got the snake. There’s another website though that also features Native American zodiac but it bases your spirit animal on the day you were born so its kind of fixed. I was assigned to the Otter totem.
Your birth totem and your spirit animal are not always the same. One is indicative of natural propensity you have in living your daily life and the other is a help and an aid when needed for strength and balance.
I am born in the time of the deer, which keeps me blazing new trails and ready to play, while at the same time I am always watchful and alert for any unseen factors that might be creeping up on me. That is my birth animal.
All people born during the same period of the year are born with the deer as their birth totem.
All people born during the same time all have their own spirit animal as well.
Each one is particular to the individual, unlike the deer that is the same for all.
You have a birth totem (animal) and a spirit Animal that brings you your own special powers- strengths- wisdom- and other abilities that help you make decisions about what actions are best for you to consider.
At least that’s the way I understand it, and it works for me.
i got a snake what kind of snake is it
I had 2 dreams within the same night, 1 of which involved a snake and was very disturbing. I think I know what they mean..or at least have an idea.. If anyone can give me guidance I would appreciate it,,,
1st dream:
I’m in the woods and can see a dirt road in the distance (about a mile away) and a huge snake the size of 4 school bus’s is coming my way @90 mph … I feel like an insect that it wants to devour…there’s no way I can escape and I’m certain that I will die. As my life flashes before my eyes the snake zooms past me and spares my life.
2nd dream:
I’m in a house that I don’t recognize with the girl that I’m in love with that’s currently unobtainable. She asks me to help her oldest son with something in his room and I agree. I wake up.
___
There’s a long story to this in my waking life, but to sum it up: I just had an affair with this girl that felt like a blur. She’s been stuck in an abusive relationship and has only stayed for her 2 year old son. she’s not happy and tried to leave 6 months ago… Also, I never knew about her situation until after the fact… but I had reached out to her because of a situation I was dealing with myself. We connected on a friendship level first, mental level next, spiritual level after, and then on a sexual level. I’ve never felt a connection with anyone quite like this before and it’s driving me insane. Anyways, I have this dream the day before her “ex” finds out. He tells me that he’s going to kill me.. I believe that he represents the snake in my dream but I avoid him… I can only imagine the 2nd dream is me with her.
I’m feeling quite lost at the moment… if anyone can shed some light on this or has any insight I’d love to hear from you
Hi Justin. Have you had any resolve for your dreams?
Had a dream about a python was moving in the grass and Christmas lights wrapped around it’s tail. I woke up.
That man is not the snake. The snake is your spirit guide, and it is just trying to reach you; probably to warn you that you need to pick and choose your battles, stay aware, and never give up on something if you know in your heart that it is a good thing.
It sounds like you and that woman connected on such a deep level for a reason. The snake will try to alert you to things like this. This snake will also test you, because thats just what it does. Be fearless, but don’t be stupid. We as humans should always no fear, but know when it’s time to be fearless.
