I lost my only son, Michael in March. I go see Michael everyday at the graveyard and most of the time, twice a day. On Father’s Day, when I got to the site, there was a beautiful dragonfly was waiting for me. I was very happy and I knew that it was a sign from my son. After I prayed ten rosary, I left and when I returned on Monday, I was so shocked that he was still at the same spot he was the day before. Few other members were there after me on Sunday to visit my son, but they said they did not see any dragonfly at the gravesite. Then Tuesday, when I walked up to the site, again the dragonfly was still at the same spot waiting to greet me. I took picture from my cellphone each time I saw the dragonfly. After 3 days seeing the dragonfly, I returned today and I am no longer see the same dragonfly. I believe that my son wants to visit me and let me know that he is free like a dragonfly and he is happy. I miss him so much more than anything in this world.

I’ve had as many as five land on my shoulder once.  They were all in a row, seemingly attached to each other. I was in the water at the time.  There’s been a couple of other times, but that was the most interesting occasion.

The dragonfly went with him to his grave.
I Know that it was the Lords way to telling us that wall was OK, and he was happy in his new world

Anna, I am so sorry about your grandson but did you even consider that you purposely killed a living creature for your own comfort? I’m sorry but that was just selfish and cruel!!

    • Amber

Anna you should not have killed the dragonfly. It symbolizes things, that doesn’t mean it is supposed to die. They only live a few months anyway. Next time keep the memory and let the dragonfly go. I can only imagine how scared that animal was. Sorry for your loss.

    • Inna

I am so sorry for your loss, Anna. It is probably not easy to share such a personal story.
The dragonfly is a sign of transformation. It was a beautiful message to you that your dear grandson is going through the transformation , and entering a new realm in his being.
The dragonfly also was a symbol of your emotions and love that you have decided to give as a gift to your grandson before his journey.
Sometimes, when you go to sleep ask a dragonfly to bring you a dream about your loved one.
