The frog totem, symbolic of cleansing
It is said that the frog is symbolic of the cleansing. You can call on the frog spirit to support you in clearing negativity and “toxic” energies. The frog being associated with water, it may be a good spirit animal to call for emotional release.
Perhaps it indicates you need to “detoxify and take care of your health differently. Or it encourages you to release your emotions or carefully at how you spend your energy in relationship to others or some matters of concern in your life.
Cleansing might also mean that the frog spirit animal inspires you to renew your perspective or vision. If the frog shows up in your life as a spirit guide, it may encourage you to clear old opinions and beliefs to adopt a new stance or perspective.
The frog spirit animal and rebirth
The frog totem symbolizes the cycles of life, in particular the rebirth stage. Its own journey through life, from tadpole to the adult state, reminds us of the many cycles of transformation and rebirth in our lives.
The symbolism of the frog as animal associated with birth and rebirth can be traced in Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome and other cultures from antiquity. The frog was a popular symbol for fertility, as well as rebirth or resurrection. For example, in the Ancient Egypt mythology, the frog was associated with resurrection; the Roman Venus, goddess of Love, was often depicted with a frog.
The frog, symbol of transformation
The frog is an amphibian and goes easily from water to earth during its life. By extension, it has been often revered as a symbol of transition. If you see the frog as your animal totem or spirit guide, you may be called to experience change in your life. Those changes might be with regards to how you lead your life and can also be of spiritual nature.
Call on the frog spirit animal to guide you through times of transition and help you smoothly go from one state to the next. It will support your transformation or metamorphosis in a subtle yet powerful way.
The frog spirit, mystery and magic
The ability to go from water to earth is characteristic of the frog. Those who have the frog as a spirit animal or totem might be inclined to walk between planes, whether they are physical, spiritual or emotional, and enjoy playing with the magic of life and nature.
This animal being active at night, it is often seen as the favorite animal of the arts of the dark and witchcraft. By extension, this totem animal is associated with life mysteries and familiarity with the unknown.
The frog totem and the affinity with the water element
In the Native American tradition, the frog is often seen as a rain maker. Many shamanic traditions call the frog in connection to the rain and to control the weather patterns.
Since the frog is strongly associated with the water where she spend a lot of her life, this spirit animal is also connected to moon energy and the moon goddess. The fact that it’s active at night reinforces this association. For those who feel an affinity with the frog as personal totem, you may be at ease with the world of intuition, feminine energies, and the magic of nature and the elements.
Dreaming About Frogs
Perhaps the most well know symbolic meaning of the frog is to look beneath the surface. Is there really a prince under the surface? The frog may be asking you to look deeper. What appears to be a curse, may indeed be a blessing after all!
Other meanings are success and contentment. Whether the frog is in a pond or on your plate, it may be a symbol of being content and successful in your sphere of expertise.
The frog is also a symbol of fertility and abundance. Not only do the young tadpoles resemble sperm in appearance, but there are usually lots of them. This is often associated with abundance in your life.

Every night two frog come and hangout on my kitchen window. I noticed them about a month or two ago. I assume they live in flower beds just outside the window. Funny thing is I’ve been going through a tough transition in my life. My intuition tells me this isn’t a coincidence so I’m researching frogs.
It is 12:46 am i got awaken by a bump turn on light its a huge frog on my bedroom floor my husband actually was sleeping so i was he felt on his head grabbed panicked and threw frog on floor how a frog get in our bed i dnt know but this is very crazy !!
Hello world I stay on the3rd floor every night I come home it’s a frog sitting by my door…I’m confused or don’t know the meaning behind it have been racing tho about frogs and different people meaning it’s just strange to me tho because I’m on the 3rd floor and I get greeted with this frog
I had a frog jump across my foot one was in the house and one was outside on the window what do this mean
I love frogs.
I have always loved frogs. And they have always been a part of my life.
When I was little, there was a tree frog that found it’s way to my mother’s kitchen counter.
They have sticky feet so they can climb up walls.
My mother put a little dish of water on the sink, next to where the faucet was.
And the little frog would sit in the water!
He would catch flies and mosquitoes.
It was SO cute!
Now, as an adult, I have a frog that lives in the bush in front of my house.
Three days ago I ran into him.
He was sitting by my front door when I got home from work at 2am.
He was hunting bugs, for my daughter and son in law leave the front light on for me.
I started watering his bush.
I took 3 jugs of water and poured it at the bush, and he went and sat in the wet soil and leaves under the bush!
I’ve been doing this everyday since I saw him.
My daughter named him Fred.
Today I went to Goodwill and bought a flat plate and placed it by his bush, and filled it with water, after watering his plant.
I hope he is happy!
We are enjoying his presence!
After my father passed away I had a frog come sit on my steps every night for months. My daughter also named him Fred. =)
A couple daze ago I was climbing up to the second level of a waterfall and it started raining frogs. This is one of them. Haha as I was typing that I was saying it in my head like that one show like criminal minds but not…These are their stories. Duwn.duwn, aw you can’t even post a picture!
Today May 4, 2016 approximately 5:45 am I was woken up by noise outside like hail fallen from the sky but it was not raining then as I looked out the kitchen sliding door there was so rain n the noise continued as hail then noticed the sliding door moving back and forth and the knocking of hail – my husband woke up so I asked him to come look outside and as we were standing inside the sliding door we hear the pounding noise then to my surprise I see a big light brown frog trying to get in :-)I’ve never seen a frog here in the valley that big… The water springler had just started outside and so we just walked away and went back to bed.
Out behind our home is a small pond with a bazillion frogs. One time I was metal detecting an rea by the pond a big bullfrog caught my eye. He stared at me and I at him and then as if to say goodbye he blinked and slid beneath the murky depths. I just remember his huge bulbous eyes. The only reason I mention him is because I can only remember seeing a frog that big 3 or 4 times in my life.
One evening I saw a big brown frog hopping away from close to my foot.I waz opening the gate to drive away. All this happened in the fore court. No idea where the frog came from.It had rained earlier in the day and it was full moon at the time so I thought perhaps it was tge tropical climatic condition of the day.I had also just met family members I had not seen for a very long time.We had spent the whole afternoon listening to eachers emotional burdens of being away from each other and great it was t meet again. There was a feeling release and joy in the air.
I have had 3 frogs in my home this summer. One in my shower, one in my basement and one in the family room. Each one was a different type. I was able to remove them easily with a cup. None of them tried to get away from me.
I wanna test it……..today afternoon as i wake from my bed a frog sat besides my bed in a really elegent style……….kept on taking his pictures …..it remained unperturbed ……the colour is betwen light to dark brown….very unlike the frogs which are ubiquitious to the topography in assam
Okay so after a very powerful cleansing ritual I performed using White Sage. I was preparing for a job interview. I was in the bathroom doing my hair and I hear the toilet make a bloop sound. I live in the country so I have heard it before. I look down and something that never has happened before today. There was a huge toad kicking around in my toilet. I’m a scardy cat so I ran and got my husband. He gently removed it using a plastic bag covering his hand and a big cup. He released it back into the wild so he can enjoy life.
In my spirit I feel this was a good omen. The universes way of saying I heard your calling for cleansing, abundance and protection. I see this toad showing up as my guadian angel in a sense. Although he scared the daylights out of me lol.
?????
Dee, that is a great story. I would be a bit startled too! Kudos for doing some good spiritual work as well. Blessings on your path! xo :)
