A power animal symbolic of freedom
Wolf power or spirit animals point to an appetite for freedom and living life powerfully, guided by instincts. When a wolf manifests its presence as a guide in your life, it could be a call to live your life more freely, to bring the intensity of passion in your everyday endeavors.
Wolves are wild animals that are not easily domesticated and when they appear as spirit guides, they could be an invitation to look at what supports your authentic self and the true expression of yourself. The wolf totem is a reminder to keep your spirit alive and trust your instincts to find the way that will best suit you.
An example of determination and resilience
In the wild, wolves may face many challenges and obstacles, but they persevere and find ways to survive and thrive. This tenacious animal can adapt to changing circumstances, no matter how hard they seem to be.
The wolf’s resilience is reflected in its symbolism as a spirit animal. This guide encourages us to be persistent and to never give up, even when things get tough. It helps us to find the strength and courage to face challenges and to keep going.
A symbol of community and connection
Wolves are known for their strong social bonds. They hunt in packs, relying on strong communication and cooperation to survive. This emphasis on community and connection is reflected in the wisdom of the wolf spirit animal.
In many cultures, the wolf represents family and loyalty. The wolf’s strong sense of community and connection can serve as a reminder to cultivate and nurture our own relationships and to be there for those we care about. It reminds us that we are never alone even in our darkest moments of solitude.

The dark side of the wolf spirit animal
The dark side of the wolf totem: Sensitivity about feelings of threat
A wolf totem animal can represent a perceived threat or feeling you are being threatened. The presence of this spirit animal could be a reminder of an event, situation or a person you feel threatened by.
The wolf could reflect something that may have a “predatory” feel to it and instill a feeling of vulnerability that is not reassuring. Encountering your spirit animal in such a way invites you to look at who or what in your life is having such an influence.
Perhaps your spirit animal is warning you about challenges with personal boundaries: You may feel you have exposed yourself too much with someone or in a certain situation and need to pull back or strengthen emotional or physical boundaries with that person or in the context of that experience. The wolf as a spirit animal could also remind you that you’re facing stiff competition at work or that the behavior of people around may feel like you have to deal with a “pack of wolves”.
The wolf as representation being guided or misguided by instincts
Since a common meaning for the wolf spirit animal emphasizes the role of instincts, having this animal as a guide or totem could point to your relationship with how you live your life, and more specifically how you trust or mistrust your instincts and intuitive guidance.
Check whether you feel threatened by your own instincts and feelings. The presence of your wolf power animal could reflect your inner emotional landscape and bring to your awareness your own feelings about a matter that is highly emotionally charged.
Dream interpretation of the wolf spirit animal
The dream meanings associated with the wolf point to powerful instincts or habits that could be experienced as aggressive or dominating by others. Wolves in dreams convey the energetic imprint of strong sexual energy or addictive behaviors of different kinds that would benefit from being kept in check.
If a woman dreams of a wolf in a nightmare or anxious dream, she may be getting in touch with anxiety relating to a male partner who may be pushing his sexual desires very strongly or pushing her boundaries. The intensity of the relationship can cause fear and be experienced as a threat that the wolf symbolizes in the dream.
If the dream has a positive tone or outcome, the wolf could be interpreted as a guiding symbol for trusting your instincts more or expressing them in a more balanced manner. If you have such a dream, ask yourself if you feel at ease and supported by your instincts, especially your sexuality or a partner’s sexual expression, or other types of “cravings” in your life.

- Like the wolf that howls, do you need to let some of the tension out and express yourself loud and clear in your circle of close relationships?

Hi. I have been doing this for two years since I was ten and now I cannot meditate. Straug is hurt I and I am unable to contact him. We were unseperable until this happened. Straug us my spirit wolf. He needs help. Come on, I am not even a teen yet and I know something is wrong!
I need your help guys.”(
Keep trying! Learn other medicine and meditate with them first. A Wolf is dependable not always dependent. That’s freedom and growth. I call myself little wolf. I’m honest true to myself and family. Keep trying and learning to heal. Your wolf will visit you again.
Dearest Dragonwolf,
Firstly, don’t panic. Instead take take in nature to tune into Straug- but most importantly you must be in a safe place- ie your backyard of your home- DO NOT attempt to connect with him right now in the forest or some unknown place. You are gifted and make sure you protect yourself. As you may already know, this is not normal, though it is such an amazing gift that you must cherish and nurture. I would be more than happy to help you and have lots of experience since I could speak basically, with this other realm. It is not only a gift, but a calling for you to rise to your abilities- in due time, you will. But if you are not initiated properly, you can be lead on a dangerous path, and I definitely do not advise you to resort to anything that is even remotely unsafe or tempting, right now or ever. You must be protected, and I pray you have a safe home where you can be yourself, and have your own room. First go gather rosemary, lavender and sage, fresh and also to burn. Take a bath with the fresh herbs and add lemon as well. Make sure you gather all of these herbs/lemon peels and bring them to a spot outside where you feel completely safe and are able to make a small fire- Then burn the herbs, which will be fully cleansing and protecting. If you have any special objects, especially anything relating to nature, bring them and surround yourself in a circle. This will become your sacred spot where you can come to to feel safe and protected. You can Call upon RavenWolf to be there to protect you, as well as Katonda Kyatonda Namugereka and Nyabinghi if you choose to- these are my guides from the Source of the Nile in Africa, and RavenWolf is an ancestral name. Know that all this advice is coming to me for you, though is also based on ancient wisdom that is protective, healing, transformative and sacred.
You are welcome to respond to me with any thoughts, questions or concerns and I will pray for you that you will be safe. Do not do anything on a whim because you hear someone in your head/see something tempting you. It definitely could be deceiving you and not be safe. Instincts can sometimes become confused with other entities that are “vampires” really just wanting to suck your energy, amongst other things. Do not vuy into fear- that is exactly what these vampires feed off of- have faith and be safe.
Much love, guidance and protection my young wolf.
I meant do not “buy” into fear- though more accurately expressed- Do not veer into Fear. It inevitably arises, especially when your guides/friends have apparently left you, like Straug. Do NOT fear though, it will not help you at all, and neither will help Straug. He is just fine, think of it as a much needed adventure for him, and an opportunity for you to reach out and connect with fellow wolves, which you have done! Well done Dragonwolf. Of course take all of this advice as you see fit, and know that as a young woman who has lots of experience with such matters and has a deep connecdeep ancestrally and personally with wolves, you can trust me. Bless you and much love!
Ello. Something is bothering me.
I have had a spirit animal since I was 10. It has only been two years, but this year, in my SMALL free time I have tried to meditate but have failed. Something is wrong and Straug(my spirit wolf) is hurt.
I need help.
Please.”(
After meditating, and listening to relaxing flute music my mind decided to have a dream whill still awake lying in bed. My mind took me deep within the woods where I was approached by a hungry wolf followed by his pack. I quickly jumped onto the branch of the large tree near me, and up again to the next branch. The wolves attempted to reach me and circled the tree for hours as I looked down at them. Eventually the hungry wolves retreated into the darkness but I could feel their presence. I threw a rock and one boked out as if I’d just came down from the tree…only to notice that I was still in the tree, luck his lips, and disappear again into the darkness. A hunter came into the woods 3 days later. I quietly said, “Don’t shoot. Be ready. There are wolves hiding in the trees, and they are very hungry.” The man never sas anything, he just looks about in disbelief. I say, “they are there.” “Do you have any food or water?” No response. I see the leader of the pack to the man’s left prowling quietly with a hungry snarl on his face. I ask him to give me his gun. He looks at me, and I say, “Here comes the leader…give me your gun…you won’t he able to hit them all in time” He still doesn’t budge and the wolf attacks…first the leader and then the rest of them. There’s nothing I can do to rescue him but I know this is my chance. As the wolves feed hungrily on his flesh I jump down from the tree like Tarzan landing in a squat…I look up at the wolves…they stop tearing at the flesh and look at me chewing. I then stand slowly, turn around, and walk to my car, start it, and leave. Wth??
I constantly have these dreams where I am a huge wolf that speaks through vibrations all along my body to create different sounds. I am silver and covered with symbols. However, there is this other gold wold that speaks the same way but has a horn on its head and is constantly attacking me and it seems that we are always having a battle with spirits of the dead to make them go to heaven as a way of penance. The problem is that he is trying to kill me but if he does this he will lead the army of spirits o his own and they will never go to heaven. What does this mean and what am I supposed to do? I need him to do my “task” but I can’t let him kill me either.
During a much needed meditation outside today, I saw a white wolf approaching, disappear, reappear closer every time. It’s head was slightly lowered as it approached but it go so close that I could see one striking green eye among the white fur. I have never encountered spirit animal guides before. This is how I ended up here. There was no fear with the encounter. Just wondering what it means.
Hey! What a great group ive found here! This is such a grrat resource. Its funny, my whole life has been decorated with wolves and they havr been a main theme. It was interesting as a chuld to find out i was native from the Mohawk tribe wolf clan. It was even more interesting becuaee wolves havr always been my favorite animal. Then just recently through a native ceremony I found my name and also my true clan which is actually bear but has shifted to wolf over time. I have a question for thise that what yo have a go:
I have always recurring dreams of wolves through the years but most recently I had a dream where i was outside a forest, i saw a pack of wolves crying over a dead/dying wolf cub. I felt sad for them. As i got closer most of the wolves scattered but then i was confronted by the alpha male a black wolf. I understood him because he just wanted to protect the pup. But i seemed to eant to take the pup and bury him but then he got defensive and i got a stick to keep him and the other wolves at bay. Ad this happened my grandfather stepped in beside me and lit my stick so it had fire and helped even the odds. I didnt want to hurt any wolves and i was scared for my own life. This is when i woke up…..
A bit about myself. I had a good childhood but did have issues and still with loe self esteem that i iver compensate for with a boosted ego(whivh has protected me) ive grown so much spiritually and as a person the past 3 years and i am a young father as well thats has brought more learning and love into my life. I strugglw with hard work even though i have huge ambitions in business and philanthropy and hrlping others become spiritual. I know that as i bring out mote of my authentic self my ego fights back and im working on compassion gor myself and others. As a child i was so sensitive( indigo child) but so much has been buried over many trials and depression and i really want to know how to get it back so I can fulfill my destiny and bring major changes to the world. If you have any advice, love prayers, or can help answer my latest drram i appreciate everything. Ive been working on a website for Philosophy spirituality and openness although its not ready i will take advice on it and vontinue to work on it. Blessings, Brett

Hello Everyone – Blessings
lone wolf: Seeing yourself transform into a wolf in your dream could mean you need to follow your true passion in life. Wolves are hard to tame and have always represented freedom and powerful instinct to my people. Seeing a dark wolf with white markings around the eyes could symbolize that you ‘see’ what must be done in order to gain this freedom, but you are afraid to make any drastic changes. Your inner wolf spirit guide is willing and waiting to guide you into a new aspect of your life.
Ashley: Your child is a VERY OLD soul with knowledge walking alongside her from the spirit world. Such old souls are rare indeed and are usually wonderful spiritual teachers, shamans, and or guides for their communities. I would recommend allowing her to express herself, all while investing in her instincts as a soul that has walked this earth many time. May I suggest spiritual workshops on how to calm these energies,as she is meant to be a great and powerful teacher.
Hi. Um,I really want to find my real spirit animal. I took this test and got the wolf but I’m not sure that what this site says is true. Can anyone give me some advice?
I learned mine after everybody kept telling me they could see the wolf in me, ask people what animal they see in you
A couple months ago the dreams started. At first it was just me running through the forest as a human. then,a couple weeks after having the first dream, I noticed something different, such as I was lower to the ground and I was using my legs and arms. After a while I stopped at a pool of water and saw I had become a black wolf with almost white/blue eyes. After looking at the pool my dreams once again became me running in the forest and jumping the same log over and over abd every night I had the dream, it always ended with me staring into the face of another black wolf with white markings around his eyes and mouth. Just wondering what anybody thought the dreams meant
My Daughter has the wolf as her spirit animal. She’s very intelligent, intuitive, socially masterful, and powerful with her energy in nearly every way. She also has panic attacks. While most believe they are going to die when they are in the midst of a panic attack, she, alternatively, is afraid of living forever. My hypothesis is that she’s connecting to a powerful wave of eternality and she cannot, at this time, handle the vibration. When I asked her what she wanted to do when she grew up, she said, “I want to do anything and go anywhere where I’m allowed to be me.” She was five at the time. When I responded, “Who are you?” She said, “I’m a ball of energy.” Again, she was five. I’d say this description of the wolf fits her perfectly. She told me her spirit animal was a wolf about a year ago. I was doubtful as I’m a Tiger…. but I can clearly see this connection. Also, our relationship is mixed with turbulence and resemblance based in large part on our spirit animal compatibility.
Hi I had a dream about a family gathering on a farm.In my dream I went to a room and so somthing but when I turnt to the outside I saw a man(I knowe him)he was talking to the made and then he left. After he left I went to talk to the same made as he did. When I wanted to ask her he grap my hand and took me to a place but where we walked was like a mase and when we got ther my family was ther.I was scared then I saw the big black wolf stairing at me.The man that brought me ther was standing in my grampa face with a gun.I lookd at him and say he should take the family away from here and the kids.So he did and he left me with the big black wolf I was running and jumping over a door and so a gold and black thing that lookd like a wissel and I was also jumping over a brown door and when a got out of the mase every one was gone.
