Turtle totem teachings for walking your path
The turtle totem symbolizes our peaceful walk on this earth. It represents the path we take as we embark on our journey through life. In contrast to emotional or spiritual development occurring in bursts, the way of the turtle anchors our personal unfolding in a slow, more grounded series of steps and longer cycles of transformation.
The turtle is associated with our physical and embodied evolution on the earthly plane. Call this spirit animal for help to be more grounded. You can also get help slowing down and pacing yourself, so you can take your next step with more confidence.

The turtle and ancient wisdom of the Earth
The American continent is referred to as “Turtle Island” in the Native American folklore. It is said that the Turtle carried the weight of the land of that continent on her back. This image is also present in Hindu and Chinese cultures, where the turtle is the animal carrying Mother Earth and holding the world in balance.
Having the turtle as totem means that you have an affinity with the ancient wisdom of the earth. You are naturally tuned into the elements, land, plants, people and animals. You carry your home on your back figuratively speaking and feel at ease wherever you are.
The turtle totem and determination
The wisdom of the turtle totem teaches us about determination and staying strong despite obstacles or distractions. This animal encourages those who have it as totem to listen deeply to their guidance and trust their path no matter what.
It is a great helper for those who need to provide a steady effort and persistence. You can call on the wisdom of the turtle when you need help to sustain your efforts and succeed in a long-lasting endeavor. By analogy with the biological attributes of this animal characterized by a long life, this spirit animal is also associated with longevity.
If you have the turtle as spirit animal, you may be inclined to base your decisions on a deliberate process of reviews and considerations. It may sometimes take you longer than most to make your move, but the results tend to be long-lasting and solid.
The turtle and the way of peace
The turtle represents the way of peace – whether it’s external or internal. It is considered as the Peace-Maker in Native American traditions. This animal is also often associated with the feminine principle or feminine energy, which foster peace and harmony with all things.
Being inspired by the wisdom of the turtle totem, you can slow down when you feel you are getting overwhelmed by a situation or emotions and rest to gain a more grounded perspective. This spirit guide can assist you in taking time for yourself to better integrate all the aspects of a given situation or issue.
Dreaming About Turtles
Turtles are known for taking it slow……real slow! If turtle shows up in your dreams, it may be telling you it’s time to slow down for a while. Are you moving too fast? Pushing too hard?
The turtle also has a hard shell that it retreats into when presented with danger. If your dream turtle is hiding in its shell, it could be a warning that danger is approaching. However it could also be a message about coming out of your shell. In what ways have you been hiding? It may very well be time for you to come out and share your gifts with the world!

I am the turtle
My sister is a sea turtle because she’s peaceful and is slow in the real world but is fast when it comes to learning or dreaming. She is also really good at it
me too yayayayayayay
I have no hope and I got turtle as a sign… However, there is no opportunity to get a job in where I temporarily live. In this sense, it means JUST SERENITY… Maybe, that is all i want…
There is always hope. Never give up and walk your own path!
Yes.
… Peaceful, yeah sure. Cause a snapping turtle is not aggressive at all, no what are you talking about?
I am responding because I also believe the questions to be too vague as well as too few. The number of animals represented is also problematic for me. I was looking for a description of say to mention but a few the ant, the bumblebee, the bee, the wasp, the moth, the snail, the field mice to say the least, as ALL are also very important and should have equal billing on the list. Perhaps a more inclusive as well as better research into the intricate lives of these insects and others that have no mention on this site begs me to believe the very nature of the list to be intently immature and biased.
I found some questions to be divisive in nature and ALL human beings cannot fall under such a subtracted list.It would serve well to remember that the human body, mind and spirit has a vast abundance of unlimited attributes for each individual rendering this list redundant in the least; that of course is my opinion.
I felt as if some of the questions didn’t pertain to creative arts. some were only a tad vague. I don’t feel like i know any ancient wisdom even if i have an honest, loving, caring, empathetic person. A guy can only be so rational, and i usually try and deter myself or even dodge chaos altogether. so, i wouldn’t know if the turtle is the right fit for me. I have recently posted a comment on the spider and that really embodies who i am. Connective, creative, empathetic and sympathetic. down to earth. and understanding is my main strength among being an artist.
I did the test, showed me turtle as result. While some points were accurate, some were not.
I suppose it’s because of the number and character of questions.
For example “are you more of feet-on-the-ground or head-in-the-skies?” I am both. My feet are at the ground, and at the same time, my head is in the skies. And that problem is with most of the questions, they’re badly formulated, so the answers will always be inaccurate. Also, there is only 15 of them, or so, which is terribly low number.
Really, add some questions to the test and reformulate them to make the outcome more precise.
I answered all the questions and got the turtle as my spirit animal. Funny that yesterday downtown i bought a turtle bracelet and pendant and looked up the meaning….
I had an alligator snapping turtle which helped me hear better, but I set it free early. We thought it should be in the wild and so we kept but a night only. However, I feel like I should have kept it longer. I saw something in th road but could not tell what it was. A lady stopped and got out of her car and I realized it was a turtl then, I was just too slow to react. I looked up and he meaning and some said I was just acting like a snapper, but this meaning I like better here. There was another meaning about getting ahead of myself which better fits with this explanation here. Pacing oneself and with determination. Today is the first day I fell out of bounds with my daily regiment. However, I plan on doing whatever it takes to make sure I keep it going and not let anyone, or anything get in the way of my determination. Thank you for the post. Namaste ????????????☀️????????????????
I was visiting Hatteras looking for sea shells and wasn’t finding any but had an feeling I was going to find something great. Then I came upon two remains of sea turtles. Most people would have said gross and moved away quickly, but I am from the mountains. I was intrigued and collected most of both of them. They were bones and dried pieces. I feel so blessed to have these, and am doing art work with them. I am also new artist who needs this spirit.
I took the totem test and got turtle. It describes me and my way of life exactly. I’m grateful this information was provided, thank you to the sites owner for sharing this.
Yo, that’s what’s up trluhftuly.
I have a guided meditation CD where I am under the sea, and a dolphin features prominently. I can never see the dolphin, as much as I try. I know it’s something else, but the only thing I have been able to guess at and see vaguely is a turtle. After doing your quiz and turtle coming up it makes a lot of sense, though I have baulked at a water animal being my totem, as I don’t like water, and don’t much like meditations based around water, rainforests and green climates. I like dry savannahs, fairly flat.
