Snake spirit animals, symbols for healing
The snake is close to earth energies and represents life force. Since it’s a reptile, the snake spirit animal is reminiscent of unconscious drives and primal instincts. When the snake spirit animal shows up, pay attention to how you use your energy, and where you draw it from.
If you see the snake as your spirit or power animal, be sensitive to your healing abilities towards yourself or others. Cultivate sources of energy and support, especially as they relate to the earth and nature.
In ancient traditions as well as modern times, snakes are symbols of healing powers and opportunities. In the Greek mythology, Aesclepius, the god of medicine, is featured with two snakes climbing up a rod, the symbol of what is known today as the Caduceus.

The snake and spiritual guidance
The snake can symbolize spiritual guidance. The presence of the snake in your life often means that you are in a period of transition and it points to ways promote your personal growth.
Snake could appear as a spirit animal when you are stepping into the unknown and need support to move forward. This animal is typically close to the ground and can remind you of staying grounded as you move through changes.
Dream interpretation of snakes
When a snake appears in your dreams, it most likely acts as an animal spirit guide inviting you to look at important facts or dynamics that are impacting your life. Snakes featured in dreams often leaves a strong impression on the dreamer: Such dreams tend to be frightening or disturbing because they call on strong unconscious energy.
Whether the snake spirit animal featured in your dream leaves a positive or negative impression, its presence should be considered as an invitation to look at positive changes and transformation.
The dark side of snakes in dreams
When the snake appears in your dream leaves you with a negative feeling, make sure you consider positive meanings as well. The snake spirit animal often appears in dreams as a warning about personal struggles and the need to pay attention to things or events that are escaping your field of awareness.
For instance, when you dream of being bitten or attacked by a snake, it could mean that you need to be careful about important matters you’ve been ignoring so far. If the spirit animal featured in your dream in the shape of a snake is chasing you, it may represent a challenging situation or relationship that you have been avoiding and is pushing you around.
The bottom line is that a dream featuring a snake invites you to check what in your life is “poisonous” and to look at important matters before they sneak up on you and create more damage or difficulty.
Meditation to connect with your snake spirit animal
Take a deep breath in and breathe out. Close your eyes and let yourself relax into a peaceful state. Listen to the sound of your own breath, and allow all other distractions to drift away.
Imagine yourself standing in the middle of a lush green forest. Feel your feet firmly planted on the ground, and sense the warmth of the sun beaming down from above. Look around and find a tall, strong tree with its roots deeply embedded in the soil. This is a sacred tree; it holds great wisdom for you today if you are willing to listen closely.
Feel your body connect with this ancient tree; feel how it radiates strength and stability as you draw closer to it. Now, look up at its branches as they twist and turn up towards the sky like an ever-changing tapestry. Amongst its leaves, you spot something glistening – it’s a snake! The sun reflects off its smooth scales, creating dazzling patterns that seem almost magical in nature.
Welcome this snake spirit animal, for it comes bearing important messages of transformation and awareness of what lies in the shadows. Listen to what the snake has to say, and find courage within its silent wisdom. It encourages you to be more aware of your innermost thoughts and feelings and what lies beneath the conscious level of your being. Feel the grounding energy it brings, connecting you with your inner wisdom and strength. Now is the time for self-reflection – take note of anything that comes up during this meditation, whether a thought or an emotion – and explore these feelings further if need be.
As you bring this meditation to a close, feel your feet firmly rooted to the ground, and imagine a wave of energy undulating through you from your feet all the way up to the top of your head. Notice any release or expansion that comes with this wave, and take some time to just be present in this moment.

An inspiring message from your spirit animal
Hear my silent whisper,
As I slither and glide,
I am the spirit of transformation,
The serpent by your side.
From the depths of the earth,
I rise to guide your way,
Through the trials and tribulations,
Of each and every day.
With my venom,
I bring healing,
And the power to let go,
Of the old and the worn,
And to welcome the new.
With my scales,
I remind you,
To trust in your own strength,
And to face your fears head-on,
With courage at length.
So heed my call, dear life traveler,
And allow me to guide,
Through the journey of self-discovery,
And to help you rise inside.

… I had a dream that what appeared to be a black Cobra came flipping and writhing through the air against a wall, down behind the sofa in the living room, darted out again and came flipping towards my feet. At that moment I lunged my hand or hands down towards its head and took its tail both at the same time so that I was hold both head and tail in one hand and thus preceded to twirl it back and fourth like a cowboy lassoing a rope either-side of his body with a rope. I gradually let both ‘ends’ of the black Cobra play out so that head and tail were now draping slack more like a rope until I had reached the part of its body that was folded back upon itself. I preceded further to lasso or flail the snake back and forth ever-faster before me with one hand like I was in charge and empowered maybe in keeping its head part away from me and knowing that the side-to-side almost whiplashing action was keeping the thing imobilized and unable to react because I was twirling it around me so fast almost like Bruce Lee with a pair of Numb-Chucks. I caught the things head and tail a few times across a rim of a cardboard box and new I didn’t want to be intentionaly cruel or sadistic to the animal so I slowed down the whirling action I was doing to it and felt that enough spins had effectively made I pass out due to the g-orces through the air and was satisfied that it was inded immobilised. What, if anything, do you think this scenario can/could symolize either for me personally or in general perhaps? (Rob Gautreaux)
I had a dream my husband was showing me a skinned white snake
I keep dreaming of two white snakes moving behind a bush and changing into two white tigers. But they act calmly, without giving fear. What does that mean??
Well lions represent courage usualy. . The serpent is the holy spirt. It can change you..
I had a very strange dream recently although sometimes I’m awake through my dreams or well conscious its really hard to describe. Anyway within the dream I was lying on my bed and I felt something move under my shirt on my back. Then very slowly I felt it slither upwards out of my shirt and move along my neck.As the last bit of the black snake tail left me I got the coldest shiver. Then I woke up and I still had shivers running down my spine.
Thoughts?
Dear people,
I am not sure if the snake is my spirit animal. I had a dream where a snake bit my pet hermit crabs shell. That is all I could remember. Then, a few nights later, I had dinner with my mom and she made crab. I didn’t want to eat it because I don’t usually eat things with souls. Was that a sign or what? The snake biting a crab? Could that be a sign that the snake is my spirit animal? Also, I love healing. Thank you!
No it ate it for you.. lol.

Love. .and to the will of others.all part of evolution.. lol
I’m having a somewhat recurring dream about snakes and i dont get it at all! In one I’m being chased by something and a snake pulls me into its home sheilding me with its tail. Its dark but the thing was huge like the movie andaconda huge (i havent seen andaconda at that time till a year later) so its not related to the movie. But the snake, Idk the color, looked and said to me “I’ll help you.” And the second one a large red snake with a rider was fighting two other riders on snakes. It killed both the red and white riders and snakes. It was like I was watching from somewhere else. Mainly the rider also said “I’ll help you let me help.” What does this all mean?
You need to ride the snake… you are is life giver. .. maybe those you have been around in real life can’t help you as mere humans you need the holy serpent to help you… let him. Don’t have to wait to dream either
I recently drove passed my ex love, (whom supposedly wants to get back together, but feels obligated to stick it out through the holidays with his current girlfriend), and when I looked back to the road, a snake started to slither out in front of me. I swerved to try to avoid it, but it moved the same direction as me and I ran over the poor thing. My initial thought was that the snake symbolized my ex, and (accidentally) running it over symbolized our relationship, in the sense that maybe I should not get back together with him if the opportunity arises, or maybe symbolizing that we won’t be getting back together…. any thoughts?? Or is it just a coincidence and doesn’t mean anything at all??
The past few times after speaking with my child’s father I have dreamt of snakes. Last night there were many different snakes of different colours. They didn’t hurt or try to bite me but I felt scared because they were snakes. I think, at one point, I said I would not sleep in the room because snakes appeared from under a mattress and up the walls. The other snakes were in various places on the floor. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I be careful of involvement with the ex or are the dreams telling me I’m becoming more aware???
Hi Dana,
I have recently had a dream with colorful snakes in the same nature. I was in the forest with my family and saw colorful snakes all over, the trees, the ground etc. I tried telling my family about the snakes and how we should leave so we weren’t in danger, but they didnt seemed bothered by them either nor the snakes by us. Since there was no threat in our senarios, I would personally say it must be some kind of unconscious awarenous rather than any kind of “poisonous” situation. Hope this helps ;)
Thanks Kendyll,
I hope that is the case. Sounds good to me! ;-)
Recently my father was being taken off of life support… i stayed by his bedside for 10 hours…. i went home before they unplugged him ….
i told my mother to contact me when it was over…. i went to sleep as soon as i got home… i dreamed of a snake tail that was curled up and slowly moving… then i woke up .. and about 4 minutes after waking up i got a phone call ..and was informed my father had passed… this will forever stick with me….
Hi,
I had a dream that our 1 year old son was bitten by a snake on the right leg. I didn’t see the snake but he had a swollen, weeping wound. My husband and I rushed around the city trying desperately to get him to a hospital – we were against the clock. We made it to the hospital but it didn’t end too well. I am aware that death in dreams signifies change so I’m not terrified I just want to decipher the message in the dream.
Please let me know what you think.
Lily
Hello Lily,
i had a similar dream one time and i really felt like the universe was telling me to change my lifestyle a bit so i added regular visits to my local pond i would feed the geese and look for snakes and often hit the snakes with sticks and rocks! EVIL! i banished their existence and told them they didn’t have any power over me so they didn’t!!!! POWER TO YOU GIRL!!!!!
Snakes are from outer space
It is not nice to kill, the snake is a creature too, and does not wish to harm, but only exist. perhaps you should re-evaluate what you think your doing. I wouldnt want to hurt you even if you were a bad person, so why should you hurt the snake? please dont do that, all living creatures deserve to live. thats not very nice what you did!
I am very unsure if this is my spirit animal… Only one really weird behavior has ever happened to me when I was about 6 or 7. I was at the zoo in the reptilian area. When I stood in front of the glass with the snake. The snake rose straight up staring at me… I felt like I was Harry Potter when the snake started talking in tounges to Harry, but ifcourse I didn’t hear any of that. Would this be considered unusual behavior; could this be a sign of connection with my spirit animal?
