When lion spirit animals warn about challenges
This spirit animal could point to one of your weak spots or a difficult situation you’re experiencing. The lion animal spirit guide is perhaps showing you the way to deal with the issue and keep going with the courage it also embodies.
Lions could also represent an authority that may feel overpowering or a conflicting relationship with power and authority. When you see a lion as a spirit animal, it could symbolize external power, authority, forces that dominate or rule parts of your life. For instance, if you dream about a scar or threatening lion, it may remind you that you need to deal with an overbearing boss, partner or teacher in your waking life.
Lion spirit animal, symbol for anger & personal struggle
Seeing your lion spirit animal could be an invitation to control your temper or your moderate aggressive impulses. For instance, observe if you could really listen to what people have to say before striking back at them. Or explore how to express your needs or anger more openly and constructively to reduce your level of frustration.
If you are dreaming of being chased by a lion, it may represent a situation that brings about personal struggle. Common dream scenarios with threatening lions are as follows: A lion suddenly appears in your dream. You feel threatened by this wild animal known for devouring its prey with no mercy. The lion is now preying on you. You’re trying to escape, but it is still behind you, chasing you like you’re about to get devoured.
Dream interpretation: Being chased by a lion
This lion dream scenario is classic. Dreaming of being chased by a lion is one of the most common themes featuring this creature in the dream world. The lion chasing you generally connects to the struggle the dreamer is experiencing regarding feelings of anger or aggression in waking life.
The dream about your lion spirit animal could point to anger you may feel towards someone or aggression that is directed at you. Being chased by a lion in a dream could be a warning from your animal totem that you’re struggling with these feelings and how to express them. The lion totem could mean that you’re having difficulties dealing with a situation where someone is mean or aggressive with you.
Scary dreams about lions
Terrorized by your lion dream?
This kind of dream is expressing in strong images what you actually feel within. The meaning of your lion dream is symbolic and likely represents the intense psychological or emotional tensions you are experiencing in your waking life. Dreaming about a lion in this way is an invitation to examine what’s happening in your life that is causing tension and despair.
Most likely, you’re facing a challenging situation or behavior that is hard to comprehend at a conscious level and the lion appears as a spirit animal to help. It may be too hard to deal with or seem unacceptable to you and therefore is rejected out of your awareness, a bit like a protection, a defense mechanism. The presence of your lion spirit animal could be a warning to pay attention to a situation or person who’s creating worries or concerns for you.
On a positive note, a terrifying lion is likely indicating that you’re in the process of becoming more aware of the issues at hand. It works as a reminder that whatever is bothering you in your waking life needs to come out in the open to be dealt with. Bring forth the courage that lion totems symbolize.
Lion spirit animals in dreams: When the lion bites you
A lion that bites you in your dream could be a warning from your spirit animal and signify that you’re feeling overwhelmed in your waking life. The source of worries could be about feelings you or someone else may have or a situation that is particularly challenging. The image of the lion bite is a strong call to look at what’s going on in your life that could feel threatening or dangerous before it really “bites” you.
Another interpretation of such lion dream is to ask yourself what is dominating your life these days and see if you can bring more balance.
Scary images of lion spirit animals and the “shadow self”
When you are scared by the presence of your lion spirit animal, whether it’s in dreams or in waking life, this could be an invitation to look at your “shadow self”. The shadow self is a part of yourself that you prefer to keep “in the shadow” or the dark. In other words, a part of yourself you would hide or reject because it’s not likeable, you or other people think it’s unacceptable, not worthy, etc.
Your spirit animal indicates the need to look at these aspects of yourself and resolve the tensions inner conflicts may create. For instance, by just starting to acknowledge parts of your “shadow self”, looking at them, perhaps understanding what they are about, what they are connected with, you can start bringing a better understanding of yourself.

Had a dream a few weeks ago about a lion, in a domestic setting. It was playful at first, like a giant house cat, until it put its forepaws on my shoulder and started growling. I tried helplessly to calm it. I woke up immediately afterward. I have no inkling of what that means.
I was meditating and felt I was able to go deep into a peaceful conscious state when I had a visualisation on 2 male lions kissing…it was so vivid…I would love to know what this means.
Hi everyone….i am a very vvivid dreamer who experiences lucid dreams and even remot dreams. From my past experience with lions and other animals i think they represent our psychi, our emotions and hiddend fears. Sometimes they represent part of our character that we either reject or dont know about such as the fact that we are often stronger than we realize. One thing i know when it comes to dreams of lions is that in the dream we are being given an opportunity to face our fears. It is a safe place were we can learn to face our greatest fear. For example last night i had a very diaturbing and frightening fear were i was being fed to a lion alive. I was pushed inside the lions cage as i laid on this huge bowl mixed with other meat. I remember just laying there hurled into a ball with chills runing up my neck as the lion sniff me out. I could literally feel my body trembling in my bead. Until the lion started to call my name in a way challenging me to face him, to look him in the eye. Then i became angry and atood up facing him and started to confront him…i could still feel my myself shaking in fear but was determine to die fighing. Then suddendly i woke up.
In my dream there were two lions and I was at some sort of lacrosse/ summer camp. And the two lions were by this sort of broken down house one was outside a window and there was a guy sitting by the window who was really scared and then the window opened and he couldn’t shut it. So the lion jumped through and the guy got terrified cause he thought it was gonna eat him but the lion jumped back through. He then kept jumping through which made me think he was just playing and I got a good vibe that it was safe. And as I looked around the room two other friends came in there with me one wall on the right side of the window was completely gone and there was another lion with a long mane that looked like long shaggy blonde hair and it was just standing there looking at the guy and the other lion playing though the window. There was no threatening vibe it just felt like it was looking. A guy came up behind that lion and tried to shoo him by spanking his butt and pushing and the lion just kinda flicked him with his tail and turned around as if to say stop that. It wasn’t aggressive. So what does it mean???? Because this article said nothing about playful lions and watching lions
After reading this, it make sense…. The only person I saw in my dream was my brother and the Lion talking to me how I feel and I said terrified… The lion comfort me while my brother appears unharmed by other lions… Well my brother hurt me financially and emotionally… So him and I aren’t speaking to each other for months… Well he tried to talk to me but I’m not speaking to him… So thank you for this… It helped me understand…
hmm
When I read about this, it was more or less perfect.
I’ve always felt like I contained a lot of anger and self frustration. But most of the time, I could find a way to help myself.
A while back, something deep inside me awoke and started guiding me. It helped me improve myself and get out of a difficult situation. So then I started wondering if this had something to do with my inner spirit.
And it is true that I can often be pretty dominant and like to be a leader.
So that is why I think my spirit animal is a lion.
Hi I had a dream last night which of course included lions; I’m so confused and would love to hear your thoughts.
The dream started with about 6 lions who stayed on top of a mountain were people can come in see them, it looked like a safari in Africa. I must have been there before because I was the tour leader of my family group. Within a split second the lions came off the mountain and started chasing everyone so my group was broken up I was able to hold on to my 2 year old niece. The dream went from a safari setting to an apartment setting this time with a 100 lions they had full control of the compound the people couldn’t come out their living space. I’m not sure how we found this place but my niece and I hid in a bathtub until someone found us; my niece grandfather from her mother side whom no one has ever met. I only knew it was him because he had pictures of her mom and her grandmother he was able to explain what was going on with the animals the bad part is I couldn’t hear what he was saying. The dream switches one last time; to a living room setting. Me, my grandma and a few other people are sitting and talking when a. big lion enters the room! Everyone seem secure except for me I remained still the lion walked to the side of me and whispered in my ear I know when your Really scared that’s why I came to you (his voice was like semba’s uncle from lion king) I remained firm the lion came to the front of me and put my hand in his mouth! and started to bite down until my wrist started to bleed he then he said something like I’m only bitting her enough to know what I Can do then I saw the blood my fear turned into anger so he started to get really aggressive with me, the next time I looked around no one was there I ran down a hallway and came to my bedroom, my niece was their watching tv. I ran in the room all of a sudden my dog appears and tries to protect me I called him into the room and tried to push the door shut with my back but the lion was too strong for me; he broke the door and tried to bite me again, I became upset and tried to fight back at the end I ended up killing the lion by chocking him I felt soo bad because I love animals just like I love people I don’t even kill little bugs flying in my house I catch them and our back outside. I started to cry all of a sudden my husband appears and said not to feel bad because I did what I had to do…This was a long and confusing dream!!
I had a dream that I was in a foreign place with a few family members and it was a big party on big lot with quite a bit of people around. The lion appeared out of no where and somehow I instinctively knew it was looking for me so I took my family into the big house and tried to hide. It kept roaming around the house looking for me through the crowd, somehow we escaped and made to the car. I guess some time had went by and I was in at home (which wasn’t really my house) with more family and I thought I had seen the last of the lion but I heard a growl from outside the hall of our apartment and I got my family to head upstairs and when the lion finally broke open the door we were standing face to face and then I woke up.
I’m not really sure how to interpret this dream because I did feel scared, and I did feel a sense of determination in the lion to find me but at the same time it felt as if it was just the beginning of something..
Totally odd I know.
I don’t quite understand my dream. It was very odd and definitely something I’ve never dreamt of before. I was with my SIL and her family and I was leaving my moms house. I looked outside and there were two lions and one tiger loose on the streets. We watched them go away, so I told my mom to be careful taking the animals out for walk and started to leave with SIL. We had to get in the car and we would be good. So, we go downstairs and look and they are back. They are up ahead and there’s no way we can try to get to the car. We have to wait. They disappear again and then the cops and volunteers come to help. A cop asked me if I wanted to help and I told him I couldn’t, I had to go. Precede to get into car with SIL and one of her kids. Her son says that his grandfather said girls are stupid. I look at my SIL and ask where her husband is. She tells me that he is helping and won’t be long and I look at her because we have to go and I’m worried the animals will come back. I look to my right and see an open area, turn my head left, and then look to my right again. A lioness is there and my SIL and I aren’t in the car, but sitting on the ground, our backs against a wall of some sort on opposite ends. I can feel the lions breath and hear the grumble and my blood is cold with fear. I see my SIL moving a hand possibly? I can’t tell. I feel the breath again and I slowly turn my head away from the lion, close my eyes, and then I was awake. My body was sweating and even now, I have a feeling of fear.
I was with a person I know and I told her to wait for me but she drove away. I look to my right and I seen baby lions. I got scared and ran with my daughter to this house that had 2 screen porch and a room with a bathroom. I found two people and told them to come in this room I seen the baby lions just walking the area. But it was one person that was in the 2 screen porch making a lot of noise
My Lion and are are friends. I met him at the base of a large mountain in the jungle. As we hugged HE bit me (like a vampire). I became scared then calm and then the bite stopped. As I moved away to ask why I was bitten my lion told me I was given the blood of a lion and the blood of a lion contains the courage I need to face any obstacle. He proceeded to walk me around the jungle to show me where my spirit has come from (ancestors – native american at the foreground under my left foot and African at the foreground under my right foot. Both tribes at the edge of the river making medicines and spirit dancing. both ancestors chiefs of the tribes). Then my lion guided me back to the base of the mountain where I turned into an eagle and flew away.
